I'm just saying, I would be more active in it because really, the only reason I feel I should stay here, is to help people out.

Just to let you all know, we are discussing this in our top secret underground development lab aka Mod Inn. If you guys have any other 2¢ to add on any aspect of this idea, please, do tell.

hmph... tell me this after I spent a week re-doing the index I think we should keep the database, regardless of what you guys think it does see use (no-one can post in that board after all). Just because you, personally, do not use the codes here, doesn't mean others do not. The code database does need updating however, with the old submissions adding to it. If it is seen to be updated then I am sure codes will be submitted to it. It would, of course, be nice if anyone who could code submitted some themselves. I'm liking the idea of merging the galore/support area and adding technical support to it also, but as Gray said, we're currently discussing that.

But what proof is there that they are being used?

But what proof is there that they are being used? Proboards doesn't log those things, do they? Why not just move it into a sub board?

No, they don't.

there's no logging, but there is that little feature that tells you how many pe3ople are viewing the board.

Umm, viewing means nothing..

So what to you implies use? You have yet to explain that.

Umm, viewing means nothing.. Doesn't matter. Many websites including PBS have links to our code database and we owe it to them to keep it accessible to everyone. Why does it bother you whether or not we have the board anyways? Does it get in the way somehow?

Umm, viewing means nothing.. Technically bub, Viewing means everything in a board where I am the only one who can post =P.
As a note, Today I have started a project of turning all the V3 codes that dont have successors in the V4 Board into Cross Browser V4 Codes. I am doing that to get myself re-acclimated with Client Side scripting and then I am going to start making some codes to add to the database.

Well whether or not I get tired does not matter. Its my job to keep the database fresh and interesting and provide the best I can.

Wow, well this is great.
So why not just make a million boards with pure rat-shit in them and then tell all the members "well it doesn't get in the way, so leave it."
Real nice logic there. As for Dalton: just because someone views a thread, doesn't mean they use codes. I challenge you to find me useful codes in the database which can't be found in PBS or SZ or be substituted. I guarantee you will not find any.
God damn, you staff are so up-tight and insecure its ridiculous.
EDIT: And Gray, I'd prefer you refrain from using me as if I'm somehow isolated from the board. Referring to SSD as WE, and YOU so distinctly makes it seem like you're treating me as an outsider.
If you want to play that game, you're a lot more of an outsider than I am.

I honestly think the code database serves no purpose. Move it to a sub-board or something. I haven't gone in there once, even when I used to have a few boards. I always just got a coder (like virt, xD <3) to do it for me.

virt You are the only one who seems to have real a problem with it which is why I said "you" Also, I said 1 board, not a million. I see what you are saying Ryan, but getting a decent coder now adays is hard, especially for people new to Proboards and without "connections" to coders. And, you all know how well code requests work out. I do agree the coding boards should take a back seat and technology should step up. I see much more potential in it anyways. Hopefully can get this sorted soon.

I doubt my opinion matters, but really, I used to come here for codes, about two years ago. Nothing that is found here can be found elsewhere, which is why I go to Support or to Studio Zero for coding issues.
Also, I have seen mAsDesign's code database, and I am here to say now, any attempt right now to reestablish the database would fail. There are already over 400 codes, never before seen on ProBoards, most of them. Not all of them are from Wrighty either. Some are from other coders. If you guys want to attempt to bring it back, you will have to get so many new codes in to even try comparing to SZ's or mAs.

Thanks for sharing Remixed. Appreciate it. We are not trying to be the #1 code database on PB. We just want all our current codes organized so its presentable to the guests who use them. Though, people may still submit if they choose.

Just drop the issue about the code database, it's staying regardless of whether we can compete with others (which btw is *not* what it is there for) because you still haven't brought forth a decent argument or reasoning as to why it should be removed. If anything it will become a sub-board (but that makes things difficult for the submission board so I'll have to think more carefully about it)
Plus I think you're not going to make any friends by comparing the contents of it to "pure rat-shit" so maybe you should think about your attitude. Not everyone sees things your way, deal with it instead of getting all arsey. And I believe when Gray mentioned "we" he meant the staff, not the whole forum. It's generally considered that (most of the time) staff members speak for the whole of the staff group.
No more talk about the database now unless you have a *decent* reason for it's removal that doesn't include "it's not being used" or "we can't compete with other forums" because frankly, they don't really hold.
