--> Ok, this system is completely Alien to Proboards design forums, or at-least I think so. So, the idea is that there will be a board where members can create a club to bring other members with similar interest, together. But you should at-least have 1000+ posts to make a club since they are most likely to stay in the forum for a long time. If you give the power to everybody, they will create a club and then leave the forum the next day. It can be a good idea if executed properly. It worked well in several Invision Free forums. And I also believe it will give the members something more to participate in.
--> Hope you like the idea. Thanks.

Good idea. I like that. Especially becuse I have over 1000+ posts also. It's a good idea, and I bet Oliver will consider it. We could also maybe even have these sort of clubs like art groups. All of the groups get together for projects and mass competions etc. Good ideas brewing.

It does sound pretty good but I am curious as to what the point of this would be. To get to know each other better?

Well, in my opinion I think higher staff would want more of a reason. I thought that was what the buddy system was for. I mean, it does sound like a good idea but maybe if it was expanded into further detail. Such as the type of activities. As of now it just sounds like a group you join just to say you're in the group.

(No offence Mitch) And about the clubs. I was drifting more to the Art club sort of feel, Ovi's idea probably won't get taken in for an option. We would do it alot like ZD did. Where we form a few groups up with even captains and even members etc. Then we put them to work, sort of like SSD's offical art group, but 4 times more the people. Activities: Template Wars Coding Wars Group Projects Championships Tournaments Fellowship I'm fresh out of ideas now.

Well, to think about it, it's like a more enhance and advanced version of the Buddy system. I think it would work out great. Maybe someone people can be specially selected if they don't have 1,000+ posts.

Hmm, they're more ideas for the battle board which have been thought of and regected. I don't see the idea of championshops and tournaments when the DID board already hosts them. This may leave people feeling left out, and I'm not sure how it would work and what people would do in these clubs. I think this is more a disguised clan revival. Also, the power would have to go to the trusted staff to run clubs, a lot of members cannot be trusted. Post counts are moot.

It sounds like a good idea to me, although, do you mean clubs like those you listed or more "special interest groups" like "British politics", "Nintendo", or "Tolkien", for instance?

I like the idea. Only people who have 1000+ posts and qualify can create a club, anyone can join at the owner's descretion. There could be a lot of things they'd do.

I think the staff should be able to create the clubs and maybe give a selected few the power to also create a club. All staff would stink.

Sounds like a good idea. Though nothing similar to the Clans. Those didn't work too well. Also, how would you communicate? Separate boards for each group wouldn't be good.

I don't know about what you'd do, anything art/coding related becomes too much like clans or large contests, which have problems with member commitment. Also anything similar to the art group is disallowed for a reason that we want the art group to be special to SSD, rather than one amongst many others.
More general topics could work, it was an idea that we thought about in the past. But now I'm unsure of it, you could risk the route of it just turning into general forums like sub-forums for chillout, meaning content there goes down.

I dunno about this, as right now I feel we're one massive big 'club' working together making the community what it is.
I feel with different clubs, we'd eventually break the close knit community and things would turn astray.

--> It won't be anything close to the Buddy system. --> Not a board, the club will be built on a single thread. --> Members with 1000+ post can create it. Everyone can join it. --> It doesn't have to be about Art or Hacking. It can be about anything. Music, Sports and Politics for example. --> Here are two examples of some successfull clubs: -Hardcore Fans- -Emo Kids-

It just won't work out in the long run. <_<
Look at the clans, or any other group project, very few work. =/
