I recently relized that there is no Macromedia Board
It would be nice to have peopel submit their tips and tricks on fireworks, flash, dreamweaver, etc
I know tons on macromedia stuff so I wouldn't mind keeping it under control if needed
Just a though

I happen to be taking actionscript in computer science, so I would definitely view the board from time to time, but the question is, how many other people would?

There isn't much a member base around here that uses that suite. Most stick to the Adobe and Corel suites, which is why we have boards for Photoshop and PSP. Perhaps with the release of CS3 and Flash and Dreamweaver being incorporated into Adobe completely (They bought Macromedia earlier this year), we could change the board to be just an Adobe board, but right now I don't think it is needed.
And Fireworks won't be used much anymore because of Adobe making the industry standard Photoshop. Fireworks 9 is in beta at the moment but a lot of people don't think it will make it to an actual release.

I feal that the suite (not just Fireworks but including Dreamweaver and Flash) is used more the Paintshop pro honestly. I bet you'd be suprised as to how many people use one of the three programs. Just flash alone is used on a regular basis.
With all due respect, I almost feal that it's unfair to allow one program support and not another.

All other support questions go in Visual Arts for now. If we were going to be fair, our main page would be 300000 scrolls long. I know the Macromedia suite is more commonly used (At least DW and Flash, I use both on the occasion) that PSP, but the Proboard population is more in tune with PSP, especially here at SSD. It seems to be dying out from how it was when I joined more than 2 years ago, but it is still stronger than the Macromedia suite is.

I like the idea of having something to do with Flash and Actionscript. I'd be quite interested to see what you know. Its an area we could develop into a little more.

Yeah, I have some Flash tutorials that I could make. I just had to do some Flash animating for my Multimedia class. I kind of like this idea. Of course, I could also contribute to an Autodesk board, but I think that's overkill. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

As a web designer, I work alongside people who are very good at flash. I picked up a few things, and I wouldn't mind a board that is dedicated to Macromedia. Though, I despise Dreamweaver. rofl.

100th Post !!!Honestly I've have been very eager to create fireworks tut's but never really had a place to put them... Flash I know but I don't know if I would really want to go into tut's for it. Little known fact: I was given the opportunity to teach a web development class on flash. I was actually considered staff at the school at certain points because of my knowledge of the macromedia suite. As a web designer, I work alongside people who are very good at flash. People should learn coding before they use a program that "does it for you".

You shouldn't use DreamWeaver to do the coding for you. However, I love DreamWeaver. I mainly use it just cuz the color-coding makes it easier to spot bugs. Yet, of course, this is definitaley an idea to consider. Maybe something to enhance the v6 update that should come before the 2008 elections, right? ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Yes colors do help with the process. I remember years ago when coding in notepad and not seeing a simple misspelling of src in an img src code.
<img srcc="#">
<img src="#">
thats not easy to spot in notepad.

If you want to add fireworks tutorials, let Eternity know and she can add a category on the website for them. With Flash though, any samples of what you have created using it. You can PM me with them if you like.

I use Dreamweaver a bit here and there, especially in my Web Design class, so it's not that bad of an idea. Plus, I'm interested in getting into Flash because I have the whole suite here on my computer. Having a Macromedia board might help push me to get into it more.

Sorry for bringup a "dead horse" but, I was reading this and wanted to bring up Josh's earlier comment that FW 9 was in beta... and how adobe is making photoshop the norm. With all-do respect, even if Photoshop became the norm, that doesn't mean they won't develop certain things such as flash and fireworks as "budget" software. Flash can't really be completely written off because you can't do as much animation wise in photoshop (none that I know of) Plus, there is nothing under adobes old suites that was like Dreamweaver so they would most likely want to develop into that a little more. My proposition: If the Photoshop board was renamed "Adobe Suites" and there were sub-boards for each program under the adobe giant, that would be good enough for me - Just my thoughts...
