I feel that Show Off needs a name change to something about critique. At the moment it holds the door open to people coming and showing all their work off and expecting a few comments like 'wow, you're amazing, I wanna see more'.
The description doesn't say anything about critique, it just says for you to come and show off your work for everyone to see. Whilst all the rules are explained in a sticky thread, a lot of people will ignore that and just go ahead and post. You need to change the name so that it's far more apparent what the board is about.
Views on the matter?

Well if you can think of some good names, I can consider it. Alternatively I could edit the description .
Think you've topped your personal best? Post here and recieve a critique on your artwork, forum or website.

I think changing the name would be dumb. It's be show off since before Oliver became mod of it. It'd be like changing the name of Chillout. Changing the description would be fine, but I think the name has to stay. It's one of the few remnants of the past here.

I just came across a thread where a person boasted all of his sigs, as he was confused as to wether you are able to just showcase them, or you receive critique. I think both a title change, and a description change are in order.

Views on the matter? I agree. You are supposed to post there to get critiqued and to see other points of view on your work. It isn't really a "show off" board. Josh, just because something has been here for a long time, doesn't mean it is right. Times change. Maybe in the past it was more for showing off, or maybe it was just named without being thought through. The point is, no matter how long something has been here, it still should be looked at and perfected.

Yep, things change to adapt to the current situations. Show off has changed. People used to just give a number and say a few things about what they liked about it. Then the numbers were taken away and people had to start giving critique, it was then that it wasn't a show off board.

Show Off isn't really about "showing off" your work anymore. You're there to get comments and critiques that are supposed to help you grow as a designer or an artist. Putting a number to an image and judging it purely on that basis didn't help people to improve, hence why that system was abolished. Maybe it's time to throw the past to the wind and let it go. Even if the name isn't done right away, I'm sure we can brainstorm for names and change it in v6.

nrich's name sounds nice. Perhaps add some "zazz" to it.

I support this also, because, its no longer, like a show off, and thus, it doesnt really belong with that name... But, as far as coming up with a new name, im not really sure...

I think the name needs changing, something to imply something other than "Showoff." I think the rules are great.

Why not something simple? Like say... Visual Arts Critique or something similar.

But critique for what? You need atleast 'Arts Critique'

But critique for what? You need atleast 'Arts Critique' Art is defined in the category name and the description would make it obvious.
