Okay. Here I am yet again, suggesting something. ;D (Gosh, that guy has bulbous eyes <<)
Ok, So, You know how we "SSD Exelence Awards" at the end of the year? Well I think we should have awards at the mid point of the year as well.
Now, here are my reasons. *ahem*
For starters, let us say someone joined in May, and since then has been really active, and really supporting SSD. That person would probably be the best pick for the BEst Newcomer award. But if the awards are onl at the very end of the year, he/she will not be eligable for that award, due to the reason they signed up far too early.
So that is why, to be fair on the people that join early, or leave at some point b efore the awards, to get a shot at them.

But you're forgetting something my dear friend, you need to be able to prove that you're going to be active for a while, 'tis meaning that you need to have been around, and be posting longer than a couple of months. If you're here under a year, you'd be perfectyl qualified for a "Best Newcomer" award.
But I, honestly, in my opinion, don't think we need another awards, besides they take time, and work, and which I'm sure with v6 pretty much around the corner *looks around in paranoia* and school starting up for most, there won't be much time to hitch this off.

Nah. The Excellence Awards are an annual thing. We do them at the end of the year.
You also have no idea how much time goes into them. I know I tallied votes for 2 of the pages and spent about 4 hours doing so. It is a pain. I'd rather not have to do it more than once a year.

The Awards are annual. Everyone knows that. And it takes a lot of time(even though you may not realise it).

Yearbook is all I have to say to you. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) But like everyone else, I agree the summer awards would be unnecessary. We have the Excellence Awards in the winter and with the amount of categories, most active members get recognized for one thing or another. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I forgot. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Convincing Ollie to devote time to it was the hard part, as was organizing the profiles (mainly people not following directions).

The one part that I would want to change though would be to either release the Yearbook in Summer and the Awards in Winter or vice-versa because both of them at once took away from the glory of them =P

It's like... JK Rowling releasing the 7th book close to the release of the 5th movie, really.. People will be more interested in one than the other.

I never get mentioned, so I don't care. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) <-- That is my sad face. I'm not Excellent enough for you guys. But, to give a opinion, no I don't like this idea.. One award is enough, though I most likely won't be active come winter.

I would help with a yearbook, if Oliver dances in the nude for me.

I would run the yearbook with no persuasion.

I think the awards are best for once a year, so January 2007 will be the next ones, it isn't that far to go really. You make a fair point about the newcomer award - however that is one award out of a heap load of others which will fit in fine.
The yearbook or anything of its kind will not be happening again, it simply wasn't worth the time.
