This is a group alot of forums over on IF have. Its a special group of users that have no moderator powers or the like but are dedicated members with special privalages (bigger PM box, private forums, ect.) for only the best members. Usually ones with over 200 posts that don't spam and try to just be good members. It's like a premium member type of thing. I've never seen the groups here so I don't know if there is a similar group, but alot of people love this. Every member couldn't be in there of course, but the best here would be in an elite or premium group.
Comments? Suggestions? Flames?

Not to mention that allowing members to have their own forum would make this place horribly huge. The number of members with that many posts is so high that there would already be at least a hundred more boards. Also, there is no PM box limit here. Really there is no need for it.

You cant give more IM space and whatnot on proboards from my understanding but they might have chagned it. Also people do get speacial things for being good at something such as Speacial titles and BLog's. As for the group names there is SOLIDmember.

- It might not be a bad idea.
- But I don't think it will work well as the result, we had this over zd when it was open, it did not work really well, we had really great comments when we had them for the forum. They always suggested something out.
- However I think the elite members who really deserve it will get the mod position instead of just being in a group, again this is my opinion.

First off, I love your avatar. *Starts Singing* Next, 200 posts is very low. I can get 100 posts in a week no problem, so 200 is nothing. The next thing is that you are allowed unlimited PM box space on Proboards, so there is nothing you can do there. Next thing is about the forum. What would be the point? Just another place to spam up and get messy. This is a community. From what I have seen on most forums outisde of SSD, they don't put a lot of stress on that. In a community, there is little point in having forums where only a select group can post. And at 2000 posts you do become a Solid Member. Just a group a select few make it into. They don't have any extra priveldges, other than a lot of respect from the other members

But 200 posts is very small for that. I don't think post counts should be even involved here. The admins will hunt down dedicated members, and give the title of "Elite Members" to them. But it shouldn't be given out easily. And I don't support the thing you said about giving out private forums and bigger PM boxes, since it's not possible. But, isn't a custom group enough ? Yes, it is.

I know the active members don't really show them a lot more respect than other members, but the new members do. I really noticed it when the group was first made. The change was instant.

Wow. Alot of posts. Uhh, I didnt mean a forum for EACH member, I meant a special forum only elites could post in. 200 Posts is easy to get but it still shows dedication, mind you this is "atleast" 200 posts. Leaving alot of room for.. More.

Most posts that would be made in such a forum could be made in the lounge. The only difference would be the number of people able to see it. It might encourage posting, but eventually it would slip out that the forum is really quite barren.

We could be barred from all censorship, flood limits, post/signature length limits, rules, and the TOS as a whole. Some might be hard to code, but Pat won't mind the TOS thing

Problem is that people with so many posts may shy away from the newer members in the other boards, which then creates a strict divide between the two. It would do more harm than good I think.

^ Not if you really can control it ^^ How can you control that though? You can't force someone to post in another board or anything like that, simply ask them to.

Like there's not already an inner circle here. It doesn't need to be made official.

If this was done you'd find people spamming to get into the ''Elite Members Board''

To be honest, at the end of the day setting a form of elite rank and basing it on post count defeats itself; someone can contribute brilliantly to the community without posting thousands of times. Rank nor post count really matters, it's what contribution each person makes that really counts. Hence, I see no point in this.

Just another way for pompous derelicts to brag about how they're better than everyone else, just because they have access to a board no one else does.
