I thought they were banned...but they seem to be making a comeback.
The sigs that tell you your IP, Internet Service, aka.

I can't remember them being banned, they only show you what you're showing everyone else. Can you remember who said they were banned?

They only show your ip to you. They don't harm you. Just by coming on here at all you are registering your IP address. And they aren't always accurate anyways. One of them keeps saying different ips starting with 200, when mine starts with either 49 or 69 (can't remember which one. ) They cause no harm.

lol I remember my old ip sig. I stored all data that came with it. Ip Address, Referer, Host Name, Time, and some more insecure browsers also sent me cookie data, which was stored =P
But, most of them aren't that dangerous. And you can always disable signatures.
Anyways, your avatar is worse than any sig I have ever seen =P

you implied you were against it, but I must have misread. I apologise. And I assume you can, just as long as it fits the tos

I wasn't discriminating, just saying it was a little riskay (sp?) You better not be discriminating. Or I'll beat you to death with my handbag. ;D Edit: I don't really have a handbag. But I do have Teh Geigh.

I don't see that anywhere on PBS or in the TOS It's not placed in the ToS or Sticky threads, but Craig has said numerous times to people that they prefer it if people didn't have them in the signature. Doesn't mean it applies to every forum though.

Only reason I could think of would be a delayed load time, but hardly.

Only reason I could think of would be a delayed load time, but hardly. I think it was because some n00bs who didn't understand how it worked started to complain. Some sigs would display more then the IP address. This is only what I have read though.

Ah, and I do have a Mass PM sent out a while back, saying that all members must remove it, and it was you Peter who removed mine.

Here's something to think about: It's impossible to ban them You can simply change apache to parse .gif files as .php files, have the php file output the gif file and at the same time log your IP. It's pointless to try to block them because it's impossible. IPs are openly given out by your computer, if you don't want it given out use an anonymizer because there's no other way. Plus, who can really do anything with your IP anyway?
