Meh. It was dying long before version 7. We've been beating a dead horse with all this "it's a phase it'll pass" nonsense. Sure a few people will post. It's great we can be that faithful. But the fact is it's not gonna get any better. I'm not giving up; giving up is quitting before the end arrives-The end came and went. SSD has had a great run but I personally think it's about time for the old maintenance mode or even deletion so we can move on to bigger and better things. It's lived a full forum's life. It really has. It's just not gonna get any better. We've been saying that for 3 years now. People swore that with v7 people would flock--they came, ooohed and ahed, and left. The only thing I can think of to help it along is really to become Solid Snake Chillout or something because honestly we have no more potential as a staple design community. It was fun while it lasted, remember the good times, the great people we met, but we can still talk to them in a different environment. SSD will always be one of the greatest forums on the internet-but it's time to throw in the towel guys.

...Stop with the melodrama...
friggin emo's...
I've been coming to this forum for a long time, and I can honestly say, It wont die...ever. Like most things in life, it has its ups and downs, what good comes from those ups or downs, is what people make of them. <3

Not quite melodrama-Stating the facts. Believe what you must, but it bothers me to live in the delusion that one day SSD will suddenly become active again. It's ridiculous. You say you've been coming to SSD for a long time. That's the keyword. A long time was all you needed to say. Although I have to say this post has stirred up a little activity If it's controversial enough people flock, I suppose. Perhaps someone should make a "WHENS V8 GONNA GET HERE???" thread hahaha

I hate to say it, but this place is pretty dead. A miracle could happen, and it could come back, but I won't be holding my breath.

I hate to say it, but this place is pretty dead. A miracle could happen, and it could come back, but I won't be holding my breath. This. It's been in an increasing coma for months now, and the few active members that are left (how many, like... five? >.>) can keep thinking it will come back... good luck with that. I'd love to see it happen, but it's pretty much gone. I'll stick around and see if things get better, but I doubt we'll see said miracle. Edit; Though I suppose we can always increase activity by arguing about whether the forum is dead or not. We could also add a few forum games, like Where's That Admin?

There's no need for deletion. There's no need for maintenance mode. Leave this place open. It's a great reminder of all the good times. I learned a lot here. I met some amazing people. This place gave me purpose during those long, jobless summers.

I never really participated much here, but I would hate to see this place close completely. If nothing else, leave it open as Mitchell suggested

This place gave me purpose during those long, jobless summers. Deletion or maintenance mode may or may not be necassary. If Oliver or Car decide to remember that they're administrators here then perhaps they should take into consideration: 1. Disabling new registrations. 2. Disabling posting in all boards (perhaps with the exception of Chillout) Only issue that concerns me is the liklihood of people posting crap that violates the TOS, waiting a couple of weeks and then reporting it to ProBoards. I wouldn't expect Saknika or Net to continue their jobs as GMods at what would be an officially closed message board. And with two absentee administrators that won't go over well.

I for one am comfortable saying that I saw this coming for a while. I mean SSD was the shit back in its heyday, but now it's sickening to see how low it has sunk. I would love to see it survive, but as Saknika stated...I won't be holding my breath. It's been an honor being able to serve as a Gmod on such a prestigious forum. I love you all Hit me up on MSN: anti@armtheflag.com I'll be hovering around until the admins show up and we can all figure out what we are going to do.

I'll talk to Ollie. But it'll be left open with all posting disabled. Just like, an archive in itself.

That's pointless, why have a forum when you can't post?

That's pointless, why have a forum when you can't post? Solely for archival purposes. SSD has been around for a long time and there's a lot of history in these threads. Why would that get thrown away? On the flip side, you don't want to leave SSD open to posting once it's officially closed. At that point you're running a high risk of seeing random people post crap they shouldn't and then report it as against ProBoards TOS. And in the end SSD ends up deleted anyways. Thus defeating the entire point.

Closing the forum to posting will help preserve the forum, even in its current, decrepit state of being. People would slowly but surely start posting things that would degrade the facade and history of this forum.
It was a pleasure to have once been a part of the staff that helped run the forum. Having been here since version three, I have witnessed much of the forum's happenings. However, all things must come to an end and now it is the time for SSD to pass. It seems like SSD has been around forever, and for many of us, we grew with the forum, but it's time to move on. Like Mitch said, SSD had a purpose, and it has fulfilled it.
And so it ends..
