I'm glad E3 is back to the way it used to be. The dumbed down version was easily the stupidest idea to come along in years.
I will say that this year's keynote by MS was impressive. Usually there's about 25% good, entertaining parts and the remaining three-quarters drives you into a coma. This year, however, they kept it going at a good pace with plenty of demos and reveals. Plus, I like how the new Halos weren't the backbone of the presentation. While they're important, I was interested in the other games demoed as well.
Should be interesting to see how the Nintendo and Sony keynotes go in the next two days.

Unless Sony and Nintendo have equally impressive keynotes... they might be in trouble.
Selling point for the Wii is its motion control. Microsoft releases something that should trump the Wii in this aspect - controllerless gaming.
And now... Sony. They've lost three of their biggest exclusive franchises to the 360 now with GTA, Final Fantasy, and MGS.
And turning the 360 into a social console is a great idea. Gonna help sell consoles, I think.
Unless Sony and Nintendo have something big planned... Microsoft may have just buried them. The PSP Go doesn't look like a promising start for Sony, I must say.

Unless Sony and Nintendo have something big planned... Microsoft may have just buried them. The PSP Go doesn't look like a promising start for Sony, I must say. True, the motion sensing project that Microsoft has shown off sounds amazing on paper. However, experience shows that even ideas that seem great don't always get off to the strongest start. More importantly, they don't get the proper development time necessary and they turn into games with that functionality added in last-minute or as a second thought for a quick cash in. Hopefully though, MS will be able to learn from the roadblocks Nintendo has had to deal with. In terms of Nintendo's presentation, I feel like they have a chance to have a big keynote, but an equal chance to stumble. Obviously, if they are to be successful, they're going to need a major franchise announcement for the Wii (read: a new Zelda or Mario game). However, they also need to show that they will have some big third party support coming for not only the holiday, but early 2010 as well. Plus, if they can really show the capabilities of the Motion Plus accessory (which should have been there since day one), they could (in theory) give MS a run for their money in the motion sensing department. Watch out for some good third party support, along with some big first party announcements. We've been told about Pikmin 3. We know new Zelda and Mario games are in development. Retro Studios (Metroid Prime series) could unveil their newest project. Third party games like Red Steel 2, The Conduit, FF, etc. Lastly, find the balance between casual stuff and more "hardcore" games. Sony, well, they just lost a big gun with Kojima working on the 360 for an exclusive MGS title. Add in the loss of the Final Fantasy exclusivity and they've got their work cut out for them. They'll need every big game announcement they can get.

When am I going to be able to play Metal Gear 4 on my Xbox? P.S. The 4chan zoom doesn't work well with the size code broken.
