Since my car was totaled in that accident I was in back in October I'm stuck driving my dad's truck (it's basically going to be my car until I get a new one). The only thing I hate about it is that it has a stock system in it which doesn't have a line in for an MP3 player. I'm thinking about getting one of those radio transmitter things. Anyone have one/used one? Did they work well or is it a waste of money?

DS has one for the Zune. It works pretty good most of the time. But when traveling and the radio station that once was complete static turns into an actual functioning one, it pretty much sucks 'cause then you have to change the channel you were on. Otherwise, we haven't had much trouble with ours.

The one I used quit on me, but then again it was from 2000. So, an eight year life is great. Instead, buy a Cassette tape that has a MP3 line in. It may be limited to older cars (newer cars tend not to have Cassette players) but you won't have interference from Radio Stations.

Those are much cheaper than the radio ones.

I used to. Hardly worked. But then again, I ended up having to get a new antenna soon after. Anyways, now I have a JVC deck with an iPod Adapter. No matter what system I buy in the future, I will never, ever buy one without an iPod adapter. It's like... the greatest thing ever. And I know people complain about them because you can't scroll through your iPod but honestly... you shouldn't be scrolling through your iPod while driving anyways. That's as bad as texting. Just create a bunch of playlists and play that playlist for your drive.

But what I do to make up for it is have it output video to my flip out monitor, so it's just a quick glance to see where I am. Just work it in when checking my speed, revs, the time, and mirrors.

Yep, my Chevy has a cassette player. Really lame so I went out and bought the cheapest mp3 I could find and use the "cassette mp3 transmitter thing."

Otherwise, we haven't had much trouble with ours. Another issue that I had with mine was it was a third party fm transmitter (Monster) and it doesn't charge my Zune. So I need to use a Zune charger and when they're both plugged in the frequencies mix and there is a quite but noticeable whine over the radio. If I were to get the Zune official fm transmitter, it would charge as well as play. Making it work twice as good in both sound and function. So my advice is go with official equipment if you can.
