I took an intro to telecom class this past year and I was wondering how everyone here watches TV. Do you primarily watch it on your TV or do you generally resort to internet episode? If you don't watch TV, don't bother responding- we all know it rots your brain, yada yada, but really. Which are you more likely to watch and for what reason?
It's kind of interesting the way the media has developed because it's another example of industries not knowing what to do when the technology changes. Stations used to rush to get their shows posted online, eager to keep up with everyone else and use the new technology. Now they're finding that they can't offer as large of a number to advertisers because people are starting to use internet TV as a replacement instead of a supplement or a taste-test.
There is an interesting article on TV Everywhere, which an attempt for cable industries to create some order to this. They are attempting to try to regulate it and place their programs up for free- if you can prove you have a subscription.
What do you think? Is TV next to follow newspaper with a poor move to internet media? And do you think you'd ever give up watching your TV shows on the actual set?

I watch it on the tv mostly but whenever I miss an episode for whatever reason, I watch it online. Either through Hulu or by downloading the episode from iTunes (in the case of Mythbusters).
How do I watch the tv literally? Depends on where I am at. If I am in my room, desk chair or bed. If I am downstairs watching on the big screen, I am in my recliner.

It really depends. I think I'm about 50/50, but at the same time I don't watch alot of TV.

I don't generally watch tv, but there are a few shows I will watch like Family Guy, Star Trek, The Colbert Report, and The Daily Show. That said, because of my schedule, I'll simply program my DVR to record the series, then watch them at my leisure, free to skip the commercials.

I'm usually watching the Television. But more and more I watch things online. A lot of networks are merging their content with the internet. My guess, it's because of South Parks free episodes site.

I don't watch much television, but I've never watched an episode of something online. In fact... the last time I watched television was for the National Spelling Bee Championship a few days ago, but prior to that... I don't even recall the last time I sat down to watch TV. The only shows I really watch are House and Scrubs, although I would watch Mythbusters if I had the chance. Other than those, I might watch a DVD we have every now and then... but rarely any program that is actually airing. (House, for example, I am waiting until I can get my hands on season 5 to watch it because I missed so many due to work.)

I rarely watched TV shows online until I went away to college this year. When I was home, it was easy to get my work done and sit down to watch House, unless work got in the way. This year, however, the craziness of school kept me from watching a lot of season five, or I simply forgot, so I'd watch it online, legally or not (sssh!). I missed so much of this season of House that I set a reminder on my phone so I wouldn't miss the last few episodes. I'll still be buying Season 5 when it comes out on DVD in August to catch up on what I missed.

Comedy Central, TBS and Adult Swim are the only channels that revolve on my TV; Cartoon Network, Disney and Nick all went down the shitter. I don't often catch new episodes of shows like Prison Break or SNL, though, mainly because I can never keep track of schedules and airings. Hulu's all right for the stuff they actually stream. Glad they still have Arrested Development up there.

If its good enough for TV it's probably good enough to just download on bittorrent. My flat doesn't have a TV socket anyway so I only ever saw it for the news at work.
I wouldn't have thought that Newsprint had made a 'poor' transition to the internet though, journalists are constantly complaining of being laid off due to falling paper sales resulting from growing use of the internet by readers.

I don't really watch much of anything lately, but if I do it's usually online, unless I feel like sitting in the living room to stare at the tv.
