What are some movies you have seen where you thought the editing was very interesting and unique?
I'd first say Ladder 49. I liked how it started in the present then flashed back to different parts of his life and kept going back and fourth between present and past. Walk the Line is also pretty neat how it starts in the present flashes back for the whole movie then goes back to the ending. i am currently taking a film class at my high school and the cheif editor for Walk the Line use to go to my school so he came in to talk about the film and showed us some uncut footage which was good shit.

Memento is the first that comes to mind. The way the editing pieces together the story in that movie is really quite something. I've also always really liked the way Saw movies come together at the end... same with the Ocean's Eleven series and stuff like that. Fight Club also had some cool editing hidden away in it, with the single frames of Tyler showing up hidden away...
I've never really thought about editing that much, it's a good question.

Memento has to be one of my favorite movies. I think the Lord of the Rings trilogy has some great graphics and editing, they really did a great job with smegal. I really enjoyed those movies.

Cloverfield was one long masterpiece in my opinion. The work that went into making a movie with literally one camera was ridiculous! Not to mention all of the digitally added stuff along the way. If you ever buy, rent, or borrow it I suggest watching the special features for sure because they shed alot of light on how they pulled it off.

I really liked the single-shot parts in Children of Men. Especially the one on the road...That one was intense. It must have been super tough to pull of though.

The last part of that movie is an achievement in film making. Whenever people ask me about film making and good movies to study, Children of Men is definitely at the top.

Oooh, Requiem for a Dream. Surprised that wasn't mentioned earlier... they made amazing use of short cuts / repeated imagery and split screens and whatnot. Really good movie editing-wise.
