This poem was inspired by the song "Our Hope Endures by Natalie Grant". www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1mu3F0dQz0We Stay Strong
What . . . . Oh What can be said? Can we but mourn for the recent dead? Laden with lead hearts, As our path parts, There is a silence that creeps over all.
Staring us in the eyes Even with our cries Our love is as strong It can carry us along, Even as the wall falls.
As the clouds gather in the distant sky We aren't afraid to try Try to glean hope From our steady downward slope As we bury our heads in sorrow.
For you see as a race Whatever man would face We band together Like buds on heather And head into the morrow.
And Lo! We can hail That we will never fail To stand up against A pain so advanced We've run out of tears.
But now there is more We've had it in store Finally something new To cry to After all these years . . . .
The light of the world As we march forward, We bow and we weep At his mighty feet Come at last.
As he led us along We knew to stay strong And before we could blink Now all we can think Is that was fast.

There is a certain sense of pride and something in the poem. It caught my attention and I enjoyed reading this. I only have two little nitpicks: But now there is more We've had it in store Finally something new To cry to After all these years . . . ."Finally something new... To cry to..." - this sounds mightily weird in my head. "To cry to" is too short for me, and absolutely breaks my concentration. As he led us along We knew to stay strong And before we could blink Now all we can think Is that was fast.I don't really understand this verse. Can you explain?
