who here engages in loitering? I use to a lot because I never really realized/didn't care the impact it had on businesses until I joined one. I work at a place right in town with one of the bigger parking lots than other stores so there are always kids skateboarding and smoking right outside our store. They make noise, litter, and are just annoying.
Is this a problem in your town? What has your town done to help prevent it? Maybe they built a teen center or made activities for teens to do after school? Our police department is now installing cameras because at night kids underage drink in our parking lot. lol. I don't care that they are underage drinking, but why in public in our parking lot? kids these days. . .

Don't say that last line, you'll make me feel old. At any rate, I don't really loiter, and it's not really a problem around here, this is a nice little area. I always try to be respectful of a business, so I don't mess around too much when I'm in public. I can easily see how it affects a business to have people messing around in front, but again, it's not really a big deal around here. Something I'm pretty glad for, actually.

A business will call the police here and the police will come and arrest the kids or take them home to their parents and have them explain why they got home by the cops. The only place people loiter around here anymore is at schools when they are closed. They fuck around in the parking lot or on the sports fields which no ever really cares about unless they are damaging things.

I do all the time where I work. It's kind of weird. Since many of the people who work there are friends we all end up hanging out there alot. Even people who don't work there hang out outside. It does get messy, but the good thing about having friends around till you close is we all help clean up
