Ok so, I figured this would be another good topic to discuss after Epic made the following statement in the Gay Marriage thread.
Should the death penalty be legal? Why or why not?
Personally, I am against any form of the death penalty. I don't think any crime is worthy of death. Even murder or rape or even treason is worthy of being killed. I'll argue more once someone else replies. lol

DISCLAIMER! The following is only MY opinion, I am not forcing it on anyone:
Personally I think the death penalty it is OVER used. A simple murderer should not be put on death row. There are some crimes that, although I am against it personally, I understand killing them for. I mean look at Darfur, tell me those men do not deserve death for what they do. It should not be used for crimes that are not on the grand scale, only for the extreme. A man convicted of man slater or of bank robbery should not be able to get the death penalty. It must be severely restricted, but not totally eliminated.

You kill someone...you deserve to face the same fate...personally I believe that they should have to go through what they did to their victims. I say this in cases of 1st degree murder. Manslaughter and other minor cases should be evaluated on a case by case basis. Tis my opinion.

This is a difficult topic. I'm not honestly sure what I believe. I believe that there are some people in prison who will never change, who will never become better citizens, but there's a whole micromanagement to that system. Some people who commit small crimes but have the possibility to become great citizens are thrown in jail for life, while other people with truly evil hearts and intentions are given a slap on the wrist, but it's never measured that way. This might be harsh of me to say, but I believe that some people on this planet are a waste of space, and those caught for their crimes probably should be put to death, because they're just wasting money and space otherwise. Some also die that don't deserve death, but we're an imperfect society.
In the end, I suppose to some degree I do support it, but it's on a different basis than the current black and white legal system.
