Ok, after the last thread I figured I would make this. What are your thoughts on homosexuality (and I guess bisexuality and asexuality as well) and gay marriage? Are you for it or against it? What are your thoughts on Prop 8 and similar bills outlawing gay marriage? Do you think there should be a difference between "normal" marriage and gay marriage? Should we drop the marriage title altogether and just call them civil unions or something to that effect? (If we do... am I gonna have to drop to one knee and say "Will you civil union me?"? Sounds like a sex position to me. lol)

I voted against Prop 8, and was infuriated to see that it passed. It makes me speechless to see that there is still this kind of separation in our society today, to such an extent that it drives humans to vote away the rights of other humans. This is 2009, what the heck are we doing? From the infamous Sinfest:

Leave them be. If they want to get married, let them. However, on the flip side, they shouldn't be allowed to force a church that doesn't believe in gay marriages to marry them. It's a two way street.

My thoughts on marriage have always been marry the one you love. Regardless of race, religion, sexuality, gender, or any other variant. I've dated guys, girls, transgendered folk, agendered folk. It's all the same to me. Being asexual, sex isn't a deciding factor for me. My view on gender is that it doesn't matter. I see out side of the binary yes/no categories that are male/female.
As far as I'm concerned the government has no business getting in to peoples relationships. It's not going to hurt anyone. Leave it be. Fuckers.
This new government isn't a democracy. It's socialism at it's best.
If something about this is going to be done, it better be done soon, or it will be allowed to continue.
Why doesn't this government worry about something that's a real issue? Like the over flowing prisons. People say that queer folk are perverted and want to harm children. Look at the rapists in the prisons. As far as I'm concerned, if they're on death row, they should already be dead. They were found guilty.

It's a two way street. Same. I was ranting to DS last night how I cannot believe that California passed Prop 8. I feel that it should be up to the churches and the people performing the ceremonies to decide whether or not they want to marry any couple. It's seriously fucked up when two people cannot live out their lives together in marital bliss just because of a law. And referring them to "civil unions" is stupid. Because frankly, it's still a way to separate them from other couples. The only difference between gay couples and straight couples is the way they have sex. Otherwise, they're still humans, who hold jobs, are capable of loving one another unconditionally, and are citizens of the united states. What the fuck happened to this being the land of the free?

Woo! Us Mainers just passed gay marriage ^_^ The Catholic church is lobbying it, which is illegal cause they call themselves a non-profit. So they're gonna have to choose between the awesome non-profit title or lobbying gay marriage. It's so great =] Honestly, part of the law is that they have the right to refuses to marry you, which I think is fine. I think their whole argument of religion is ridiculous, separation of church and state, people! And marriage doesn't have to be religious. You can be married by a sea captain. I wouldn't have a religious marriage, I think many of the people choosing to get married now wouldn't do it religiously. I'm exhausted, I write more/make more sense later =]

The only difference between the marriage and the civil union is this piece of paper that gives you tax breaks/benefits. That's all they want, is that piece of paper, really.
