It seems that I spend a lot of time on the subway whenever I visit Toronto. These were shot a few weeks ago when I was in town working on two assignments.

I enjoy the second image more than the first. The perspective is great and the kid holding his ears as the subway car stops from speed is a fantastic representation of being there. And if I'm correct it looks like one of his parents is holding him back so he can't run up to the car while it's still moving; though he looks old enough not to do that.

The second image is the better of the two.
With the first image, you had a good subject, but too many distracting objects around him. Especially the sign with the arrow that leads the eyes away from the guy with the jacket, and right out of the frame. Be careful of things like that in the future.
With the second one, you've not only captured a great emotion on the kid's face, but you also have the movement of the train in there to really give the photo some energy. That's pretty cool. The crop is a little off though, since he's missing only one foot right at a joint. Be careful of things like that. But it's a really cool photo nonetheless. :3

I love the second one as well. I get too afraid to take pictures of random people...especially kids. I always think their parents are going to beat my ass or something.

That's the way I had intended to shoot the picture. I love the second one as well. I get too afraid to take pictures of random people...especially kids. I always think their parents are going to beat my ass or something. Kids are a bit of hit and miss. In most cases, if you approach the parents beforehand, they're quite welcoming. I was being rather stealthy with that picture (regarding the kid) but I made eye contact with the dad and he seemed pretty cool about it.

That's the way I had intended to shoot the picture. Generally, you don't want to lead the eye out of the photo. It doesn't really work. If you had it so that the arrow was on the right pointing left, it would be absolutely fantastic.
