alright im using gimp and i have 2 pics up and i want to make a background behind the other with the 2nd one im using...im a noob at this whole thing, could anyone help me out...please

GIMP uses layers correct? Select the entire image, copy it and paste it to a new layer on the other image. Move the top layer down one (by dragging and dropping) and viola.
You may also be able to right click the layer (from the LAYER palette) and select duplicate layer and have the option of duplicating to where (as in what other open image). But I'm not sure. I use PS/CS3 but have heard GIMP is similar to PS so all this is an educated guess.
