Lately there has been talk about how I don't respect others opinions, that I shoot down every suggestion, and run SSD like a dictatorship. Which, to be honest, makes me feel like others may feel that I don't appreciate my staff, or even the members.
first, I appreciate each and every one of you that have had a positive effect on this community. especially my staff members. Without you guys SSD wouldn't run smoothly, and we sure as hell wouldn't still be open. As for the members, you guys provide me with a daily dose of amusement from some of your witty personalities, and happiness to see that you have taken the time out of your lives to still keep active and help us keep SSD's walls up. I may not have been some of yours' ideal choice for owner of SSD, but I am. I get the "I'm admin, deal with it" isn't received well, so I don't want you to look at it that way. Most of you have given me the chance, and have welcomed me just fine, and I thank you for that.
secondly, I respect everyone's opinions. I love hearing them. Unless they're inappropriate and unsound. Then those opinions should be immediately directed to my PM box. I don't ever want to suppress anyone's voice unless it causes a flaming war. I may not agree with everyone's opinions, I think that's obvious. Despite the preconceived notion that a lot of you have developed, I'm a very open minded person. I always have been. I may tell you how I disagree with your opinion, but I know that everyone has a right to their own.
finally, suggestions. I know that there have been a few that I have rejected. And although this is an online forum, I respect some traditions, and I respect the ideas that the past staff members have integrated. Changing some of those in my mind are out of the question. A number of you have said that you missed the old days, but when there's a piece of the olden days I'd like to keep around, I'm met with a battle. I love that you guys have suggestions for the forum, because frankly there's no way that I or Gray can come up with ways to keep SSD fresh and active on our own. This is a group thing, a teamwork effort is needed. I get that some people hate traditions. However, not everyone does. I don't care that staff members are gone, I got to where I am by respecting them and their ideas. I'm not comfortable with changing everything about SSD. And I hope you guys can understand that.
Basically, my point here is. Have an opinion or suggestion? Throw them at me anytime, anywhere. I'm open to listen to them. If I seem strict, I'm sorry. But I do have to take into consideration what's best for SSD, and I understand that sometimes you guys may get pissed off at me for that.
If you have anything you'd like to say about this, please, PM me. I'm not keeping this thread open only because I don't want it to turn into a flaming war.
