Beefsticks While it portrays the emotion fairly well, I can't say for sure it's not photoshopped, nor does it have much aesthetic value to it. ComicIDIOT This definitely portrays a feeling of closeness, and the fact that the person is so close to the camera helps immensely in portraying this idea. The sepia tones are a nice touch, and overall its a wonderful submission. Assassinator The photo is lovely, and shows that you have good control of seeing dramatic lighting, and of using it to your advantage. I also really love the idea you were trying to portray, but sadly I didn't really get it just by looking at the photo. While the idea is good, it's also a bit too abstract for Valentines day, and perhaps more suited to that of memorial day, or Dia de los Muertos. In the end the judging really came down to ComicIDIOT and Assassinator. Both showed great creativity and technical skill, and definitely evoked emotion and contemplation with their imagery. I was on the fence for a while and had to keep glancing back to try and come to a decision. It's with a big congratulations that I'd like to announce ComicIDIOT as the winner of the 2009 Valentine's Day contest. It wasn't an easy decision, but it came down to the portrayal of the message, and ComicIDIOT's was just a bit easier to understand which gave him the edge. Thank you all for participating.
