Right, so we get a truckload of free scripts from all over the web. Some to add a shopping cart, some to add a guestbook, some to add polls, other functionality, etc etc.
How many is too many?
How much is enough?
Do you enjoy adding these to your website? Why or why not?

Do you enjoy adding these to your website? Why or why not? Personally I think it depends on the site. I don't like to see alot of addons because it makes the site look junkie, but I think some are ok. You want to add a poll to your site? Go ahead! A chatbox? Go ahead! But once you have like 10 crazy things on it it starts getting cramped.

it depends what addon and what website you have. if the piece of software doesnt have a built in poll then go ahead and fine a good clean script and use that, personally i wouldnt touch a shout box or chat room. id go down the forum route, id have live support script on my site if i provided a service / product which might need a live chat with the customer.

So long as it looks good, then it doesn't bother me.

I personally use drupal and will only install modules if i don't want to hand code the module my self.
Back in the days of me hand coding everything, I used to just write shit my self. But that has been some time ago and I find it easier and more productive to use what's available.
