What about your forum software? Which one's have you used and liked? Which ones did you not like?
I use to own a forum about mustangs which used SMF. No complaints about it. It has this great mod called Tiny Portal which worked wonders. Only thing i didn't like was the layout of the boards and sub-boards.
I'd say vBulletin is my favorite and as far as i can tell, its most commonly used. There are people constantly developing the software and mods/themes for it so there is nothing you can't do. The admin panel is so easy to use and there is great support shall you ever need it. Only thing is, you need to purchase a license to use it.

vBulletin FTW! I've been using it for a while now and I have absolutely zero complaints about it.
I've also used IPB which was also a nice system and phpbb3 which also isn't bad at all....you can't take my vB away though.

The only problem with IPB and vBulletin is that... well they're not free. And when it comes to non-profit websites, I'd rather not use any of those software. Sure, I've worked on those, and the type of resources, plug-ins and mods available for those are just legendary. They're easily available and very easy to install, a peach to work with. However, free software like phpBB, SMF and ProBoards interest me more. Seems more flexible if you ask me.
I keep a close check on forum software, and I've been told and found out that vBulletin is one of the most secure. And the one with the best skins available as such has to be IPB. I remember a few years ago I was testing out skins, there were some really beautiful ones available.

Yea it sucks that you have to buy them, but for a one time price you'll never have to pay for it again. Although after a year you won't have access to download the new updates, but for a small price you can get the updates for another year. After using it I'll never use anything but vB again...unless I'm short on money and phpbb3 will do the trick

Doesn't make sense to code your own forum if you ask me.

Care to link me ? googleplz Sorry but I'm far too busy and lazy to use that google.co.uk site, besides, it takes forever to type google.co.uk and even if it didn't, there's the whole having to press "enter" for it to go to the page, and then the whole process of the page loading, which takes forever, especially on google!!! And.. omg!! The smilies look like they have some kind of weird wing around them in the quote box haha
