Personally I believe CMS's save me from doing way too much work. Sure you can build a page from the ground up and it looks good, but then you have to upload a page every time you want to change it. With a CMS you go to a backend admin panel write your content and then hit post just like on the forums here. If I want a page I add it and the link shows up on the top of the page with the graphics all in order. If you do use a CMS what do you use? What worked for you and what didn't? e107: Personally I have nothing bad to say about this CMS except for its built in forum system is a bit lacking. It's very easy to use and you can find many skins out there for it. I recommend it for beginners or for people just looking for a simple solution to their website needs. Wordpress: At first Wordpress was more used for personal and business blogs, but more and more it is evolving into a powerful CMS tool. This is my current personal favorite. It has many options for you to upload and use media in your posts as well as many mods out there to make your page even better looking. If you want a powerful system that can be adapted for use in just about any situation here is your CMS. Joomla: This is the most powerful and unique CMS that I have ever used. I've seen so many modifications and different kinds of Joomla sites. It has a great way of organizing your content and media, but the huge problem I've had with it is the text editor and the way it works. The editor gives you little control over the way the text looks and if you copy and paste from word or another text editor it imports all settings including font which can get real annoying. It's a good system, just needs some work. These are the 3 CMS's that I've had alot of experience with, but I've tried many more.

Our website uses Drupal. Like Joomla it has a lot of solid modifications and add ons. Creating custom themes for it is easy and its very professional. Though, I prefer Joomla over it any day.
Only other CMS i have used is WP. I'm currently creating a small sports blog using it.

Always thought of WordPress as a blog software. I used it when it was first introduced, and didn't think much of it. Of course now it has evolved, but I still wouldn't go call it a CMS. Joomla, Drupal and e107 are ones that come to mind instantly that I've used. Drupal was fun to work with, really good as well. Joomla, well, nothing need be said about it, it's really popular just as e107.

I use drupal, and have since the first beta of Version 4. It's open source, it's lightweight, it's got tons of modules, and I know about all the source code, as I've helped in the development process. My personal website is built off of it, the SSD website, and the SSD Worm Website is built off of it as well.

The current gaming website I'm in charge of uses Joomla, which I am definitely not a big fan of. I think it has some nice features, but it also has a lot of unnecessary and cluttering features to it.
A lot of the time I have used custom made Content Management Systems which I find work the best because they are made for a specific reason.

I've always developed my own CMS. The likes of Joomla and PHP-Nuke tend to be over bloated and always have features I do not need. Normally I am all for extra options for those "just in case" moments, but when I develop a site I generally have a full perspective on what I'll need down the road. Thus a custom CMS with just what I need works out best for me. Not to mention, should I ever need more I just incorporate it myself.
Last note on Wordpress: I use it, love it, wouldn't trade it for anything. But it's nothing more than a blog system to me.

lol Fantastico=pure awesomeness That's the same way I've used so many CMS's Would be totally handicapped without it. Installing something without it is simple enough though. It's just faster with Fantasitco.

I think I'll stick with news org. like Cute-news,etc. The problem with those CMS programs is the space they eat up... I'm on about 30 meg's, so if you design your layout in PHP (includes) and use cute-news or the like. Plus use proboards as your forum host you'll have more than enough space and you can update easily .Also page creation is a lot easier.. ..

I use wordpress, but it all depends on what your site is about.
Ive found wordpress better then the rest because of the endless amount of plugin that you can find for it, makes is a very dynamic cms.
Also the support site wordpress has is above most others Ive used.
