"Version 7 is finally here!
Yes, we know, it has been a long time. But like we've said countless times, a skin doesn't make you post here and if it does, well perhaps you should rethink your outlook on life.
If you don't like this skin please don't ruin all of our hard work by being awkward about it. Suggest improvements, we're much more likely to want to change things if you're nice about it. Saying something is crap helps no-one."
I'm sure you can all see it, but there it is anyway. I very much so feel that this is a terrible insult on your members, and in not the least mature, or professional. The announcements message is fine, but insulting your members isn't at all. I would suggest saying in a kind, professional way, to keep all improvements positive. I would also like to see links to both the bug board, and the V7 announcement thread, as I believe this will help members get started.
Thanks for reading this, and please, don't take it as an insult. I just think something that is shown on every page of the forum should be more delicately worded.

I don't understand how it is an insult. All it is doing is asking you to not just bash the skin because of the hard work that went into it all.

Come now, you honestly can't see how saying "you should rethink your outlook on life." or "Saying something is crap helps no-one." isn't professional? I'm sure you're more intelligent than that. I was just suggesting a more careful wording on your official announcements, especially in such early stages of the new version! You don't want anything distracting people from signing up. Sorry if it seems I am one of those people who are "attacking" you. I'm not, just trying to offer some help is all. You have to set the mood for the members, and a very negative, unprofessional announcement (especially one which is displayed on every page) does not do that. The announcement is dandy, just your word usage I have a problem with. Thanks for reading this though.

Honestly... I totally did not read the outlook part. oO I suck. Yeah, I'll get Gray to change it pronto. Thanks. EDIT: He was already taking care of it.

Like I said, I didn't realize how bad the announcement was. I can understand why that would be said (hell, v6 was leaked early and bashed so badly that it was scrapped and we skipped right to v7) but you are right that it should be kept nice and that definitely was not very nice. It'll be fixed soon if it has not already been.

Ehh. Personally I felt it was a pretty valid statement, it wouldn't be insulting to anyone unless it was someone who planned on complaining negatively, in which case we wouldn't want them posting anyway. But meh, what can I say. I don't mind either way.

Ok, a replacement announcement should be up momentarily. I wrote it up and I am going to bet that Kay will make another one when she comes home from work. We also added some helpful links for everyone.

Thank you. I was afraid I'd have to quit SSD if that wasn't fixed. ='[

Quite frankly there is no other way they can put it after people started shouting for a new skin. Then Car brought out v6 Superficial (she removed all the forum colors and left it like that) and a big flaming topic was raised about how skins MUST be used to attract members, and that content had nothing to do with it. I honestly think that there isn't much more that could have been said. The administrators were just being explicitly clear that if you came to the forum to bash the skin, to get the fuck off. #heart.gif#

Lam, it could have been worded differently. It did seem like whomever wrote it was angry at the members when they wrote it.

Umm, people. Chill. I took that bit from the v7 post itself that E wrote. It may be a bit 'unprofessional' but when you've been staff on this forum and had to listen to all the nagging about a new version, you'd see it's sadly true.
