Epic, you say the redesign will bring the people who post once a day or once a week, whats to say the GFX request board won't be the same? I bet the GFX board will bring the posters who post once, then leave forever. Worse than the posters the redesign will bring. I don't see your point there. We will not rely on a graphics request board to bring us back to the activity we use to have. We have been working hard on other ideas and boards to help with traffic, and you will see them when the new version comes out. But, a GFX request been suggested many times before and the staff is considering it. I don't see any thing... Oh, wait, I blocked it. XD Any way. I've put in my ideas. Other then that, it is what it is. This redesign isn't going to do anything more then gain us a few member who as I believe to have been Virt said, "Post once a day, or a few that post once a week." What we need is boards that are still design related. Honestly, we need a god damn board for render artists. Bring back the requests board. Trust me, it will bring more activity. It's what we were best known for, and it's what we should still be known for. We have some damn good artists here. We all like challenges. We all need the experience of working with clients, whether we do already or not. And just because we can have designated request fillers, doesn't mean we can't just allow any one to do it. Any one who wants to do it can, just not everyone going to be a staff member. We would have a group like the Herald team that would work in the board, and help fill requests. It's not that hard, and everyone is making this far harder then it needs to be. Traffic brings long term members, Long term members bring their friends, and it grows. All we need is the traffic, which the requests board would fill. By opening the requests board, we would get more people who would start looking at the other boards, and get involved. Traditional Artists, Photographers, and many other people don't do graphics, but we have boards that will help them after the graphic requests section, and will keep them around. If you don't bring back the requests board, you'd have to be stupid. It can't all be about the new, we need to keep something else other then the name that we've been known for since we first came about. We could have it where you need like some many posts before requesting.

If we offered requests, I rather not put a post requirement. But if it gets abused by people, then we will.

lets have a graphic design class system we'll have judges that would assign you to a gfx class like beginner or advanced, etc....
i was going to say something about teams but last time when i actually began the first team of the forums H20 everybody began making teams and it was a huge mess... so that probably wont be happening again O.o

Gray actually suggested that but it'll just end up segregating people and as it is all down to personal opinion there could be arguments.

It worked on mAs, it made people work a lot harder on their GFX. They had something going that brought them a lot of activity, and their classification system was one of the reasons.

I'd say bring back the gfx clans but I don't think there would be enough active members here to do that again, but it was really fun last time.

Yes... clans. Depending on the reincarnation, clans were either destructive or constructive but always ended up in the same result - death. They originally were made when this board would get a few hundred posts a day (back in the days when I was able to get 75-100 posts in a day) and we had designers left and right. Basically they were teams of designers (SuspenseFX ftw!) that would battle each other for points, much like how the Battle Board was set up (at least when I left, how it was set it up), and earn the right to be the top clan. People would wear clan sigs and have giant clan wars. It was real fun and everyone seemed to have this secret goal of joining one clan in particular... the one that had Alan, Car, Crazy, Reedy, and Torn. Those became inactive though and were shut down along with GraFX (the requests board. If I got the name wrong, I am ashamed of myself). They were brought back a few more times as pretty much the same things (destructive entities) over the next year but they never survived more than a few weeks. They then were brought back to life as a constructive group - Clan Resources. Basically three clans were brought back (I know that Nick and I brought back SuspenseFX for like the tenth time), each with mods as leaders (at the time, Nick had just quit being a mod and I had just begun) and the whole goal was to release regular resources for the members of SSD to have. Sadly, this didn't even last past the first release. They used to be big on most design boards (SSD, ZD, F5, CDP (if anyone here remembers that amazing forum, you get a cookie) etc.) but none of them ever survived very long. I think they would honestly be a bad idea just going from my experience here and elsewhere, especially given the lack of activity. Unless v7 brings in hoards of designers... don't do it.

*imagines car driving a tank at kay* I don't remember Kay ever being involved. She only recently (last year and a half if I can recall correctly) got into making images a lot. There were Photography clans I think. And then the whole Photography vs. Literature war (that one was cool. lol). Those two she probably was involved in. Funny you say Tank, though. He was one of the most active clan members. eddybiel.deviantart.com if he hasn't ended his account.

Oh! The clans were just like our failed Battle Board. No, they were quite different. They just had a point system that ran like the Battle Board. Or at least they did for one incarnation.

*imagines car driving a tank at kay* Yeahhhh, ummm. I never participated in the clans. I thought about it, and almost did when I battled Assassinator and won against him and he was the reigning champ of the battle board at the time, I was proud. ;D But nah, when I had no computer for 10 months, I kind of lost the designing spark. I've been getting into photoshop lately, though, so who knows what I might start rummaging up. And I vote not to bring back the clans. They just were... pointless, really. They didn't take off like I expected them to back then, and with less designers now, it'll fall even faster.

What about deleting the accounts with 0 to 5 posts?

What about deleting the accounts with 0 to 5 posts? ... no. I've never been one to favor deleting accounts unless they belong to spammers. Otherwise, the high member count helps with our 'popularity' aspect.
