And how many members are willing to help. And how many members stay active and don't go on holidays. And how many members are willing to contribute stuff. And how many members are actually working. . . THe reasons could last forever. It will all be worked out if Ollie approves this. Until then, we wait.

Seems like a lot of work, but it will be nice, so it's a real possibility. People will need a lot of patience for this.
One thing about who goes in it: everyone who wants to be in it, they shouldn't be excluded from a community project just because they don't have the right amount of posts.

Yes, you could do a listing of all the members. Devote a bit of it for a complete member list, then add extra areas where active members can have their info placed. So, if you think it's a go Ollie, is there a way to start getting it planned? I'm available on AIM if need be.

I'm happy to be one of the main people too- work is no problem for me. I figure if we give it a few months at least to get everything together and another couple of weeks to collate everything, then the publishing could begin. In that case... could be ready for Christmas.
An extra thing- why not have a temporary board for it, and those that want to submit things can either contact the overseers + editors + main head there about it. Enquiries might fill Chillout if there's no information left out in the forum somewhere.
Then again, like the Herald, why not have a hidden board for a meeting place for the staff of the Yearbook too? Some people use different messengers and email and PM boxes could get a little messy if everyone doesn't know what's going on.

A printable format probably wouldn't be too hard to make. Why not have the SSD Excellence Awards or whatever they're called featured in there too? Might make for some more interest. All for this idea too. I reckon it'd be neat. I was thinking of this actually (I'll likely be planning them this year, was Alan and I last year...and well, think that one through). The yearbook itself will need plenty of time to plan and build, and these awards will last until January of 2006, which is when they'll be counted up and reported back. So, that would leave plenty of time for the yearbook to gather itself. Well, obviously, people you don't know can't do anything. I've been on a Yearbook team, and I learned a bit. Artwork, Quotes, Stories, Poems, Staff, SSD History, . It's an idea that never before has occured to me. Quotes, I like. The SSD history, sure. Staff, why not. As for poems, stories, and artwork...I'm thinking if we allow those it'll be a very fine selection of them. Can't have 50 people all submitting 2 or 3 pieces of art, that'd make the thing -too- large. So, maybe allow for submission, but we then have the editorial team narrow it all down and allow only a number through (same for stories and quotes, though quotes can be allowed through in larger numbers). Usually my old school's yearbook had a Table of Contents (duh) and an Administrative Letter. The Admins could summarize <blah, blah, blah>. Or maybe a list of all of the things that were changed (Announcements) to show a total changes. See how much happened over one year. IS it really a <year>book? Annually? Then, the committee (if the idea is even approved) should prepare the yearbook for the day SSD came up! Either the site of the forums, if they're different, of course. For SSD's anniversary. I was wondering the same thing. Ryan, care to comment further? I don't see a problem in forming a permanent Yearbook-staff (or, re-establish one every year, like most schools do).
So, enough commenting and time for my own thoughts. I'm personally all for this idea, and I wouldn't mind overseeing it. I've got some ideas which I'll bring up with Oliver when he's next on MSN (they're general ideas for how this'll be conducted, not for actual inclusions). Though, I will say, post count will not mean anything if this happens. Anybody who thinks they can positively contribute and uphold what we're looking for should be allowed. Some of our best members don't even have many posts. Lans, for example. Wouldn't want to stop him if he wanted in, now would you?

It gives plenty of time for voting and whatever else and other submissions and work for the yearbook can be planned/done during the duration of the voting and collating of the Excellence Awards. There'd probably have to be a variety of art included (as art is hard to define in itself as there are so many mediums to cover- digital, traditional, whatever). As for stories and poetry, it might be of convenience if two short submissions (short prose-wise meaning less than 500 words, poetry is generally short anyway, depending on the type of verse used) were allowed per long submission.
A Yearbook doesn't just include submissions by the forum- it also has the funny pictures, memories, even the making fun of people who don't mind. Flicking through the school magazines that I've had in previous years, there've been notices and reports and just general weird and wacky stuff incorporated into the formalised material. If someone wanted to draw up a couple of SSD comics or a couple of drawn pictures of people on the forum- the wackier, the better, I think- that'd be possible.
I'll add more as it comes to me.

God knows we spend enough time on here as it is, so we might as well make some of it worthwhile. As for the submissions, I like your idea of using a board to allow submissions then narrow it down to the "good stuff" but put a little disclaimer saying it was a problem with space so nobody feels bad. For a member list, I say we make just a "roster" of all registered members, then have a section directly after it where active members can submit info and pictures so it looks like a regular yearbook entry. Of course, you could combine the two to save space and just put "No information provided" where necessary. If we were to do this, I think it'd be best to get your team created, make a layout, then decide when you want it done. Makes things easier that way. If it were up to me, I'd have Kari, Eternity and Squalleh be Head Editors as you guys are very interested and have a lot of feedback on the topic, Ollie or I be Main Head(s) (Hey, it was my idea after all ) and then choose a staff of people to gather things which would mean plenty of time going through old threads. I think we need to discuss this with Ollie a it more. And no, I don't want to leave Lans out, Squall.

SO maybe 2 Main Heads, and 6 Supervisors/OVerseers, and possibly 12 Editors.
You also should plan for a rough idea for what positions to make. SHould you choose for "FIrst Come, First Serve" or maybe a "Quiz" to narrow down te nubmer of members applyin to help. Or you can make it unlimited members. Or there's "People of Priority" (Admins, Mods, SMods, Pro, "Great Contributer to SSD", etc.
Did Oliver approve? I don't quite remember, and I'm too lazy to flip through the pages.
