Okay, so Tar boy has been interested in programming for about two years now and like an idiot has not figured out what to learn.
Yes I can code HTML, QBASIC and C++.
But I want to learn something else, I'm slowly picking up JavaScript, but I was wondering if you guys would recommend me learning ASP?

PHP is pretty common these days, it's almost like HTML. lol.
And I can't seem to be able to set up an Apache server on my system.
IIS was so easy.

IIS was so easy. What system are you using, windows, linux, or mac? However, I would really not recommend ASP. It's a windows only language, meaning you have to get a windows host/server if you want to put something up with it. Which aren't all that common as far as I know, most nowadays are linux/unix. Though, PHP and Perl work on both. Since PHP is overly used, perhaps Perl. Slightly harder to find stuff on, though. Supposedly more challenging (never tried it out...). However, like Squall said, stay away from ASP.

I was talking to Peter about it earlier today, and he told me that I would need to learn a good amount of JavaScript for it, and also that's it's a Windows Server language. Correct Eric.
Hmm...
Maybe PHP isn't that bad.

Maybe PHP isn't that bad. I think you can use Javascript, VBScript, Perl, and Python with ASP. Though you have to install the extensions for the last two. (Not to give you any ideas ) PHP probably is best though. However, I didn't know you could program in C++, that's awesome.

fck ASP go for Perl and Python. Im learning Python now and it rocks =D, Perl is also a very powerfull serverside language. You'll get better paid with Perl because it's more wanted then PHP nowadays, because PHP is the more popular language and growing in popularity. So there are more job offers in perl then in PHP

I tried ASP once and it sucks...
Basically, you can use Javascript or VBScript to code ASP and it has some new functions but it is really wierd

Okay so the general concensus on here is that ASP sux0r and Perl is uber. Good, I'll look into Perl, see if it interests me.
