This is not meant to take away the skills most of you have on the computer, hell I can't do a lot of what some of you can do on the computer but I was wondering why is there no real artwork on here. Perhaps I have not delved my time into looking in the past but all I see is digital artwork. My artistic taste buds linger for some oil paintings, or graphite drawings, hell I'll settle for finger painting. I'd really enjoy seeing some 'real' artwork on this forum ;D

Ha I don't know if 'real art' is a good way of phrasing it but yes there is alot more digital art than traditional art such as paintings around this forum, but the use of computers has grown massively so it's expected. Well I'm getting back into drawing lately is that 'real' art?

I'm old school. I have a bunch in the traditional art gallery, but it doesn't list the artist or titles of the pieces there. At least, it didn't last time I checked it out. I finally succumb and got a myspace, if you want to see some of my pieces. PM me and I'll link you. Obsidian does traditional, Tao Ren does traditional. I'm sure there are more, but it is early in the morning, and I don't feel like thinking any harder.

Yeah perhaps 'real' art was the wrong word but I think non-digital sounded less fun, so yeah it wasn't that most computer generated art doesn't take time and talent but I don't know ... I just would much rather paint on canvas or develop a black and white photo then use a tablet or photoshop.
and of course drawing counts, Jon ( at least I think )

Traditional Art. Fine Art points to Visual Arts, Speaking Arts (Acting), Literary Arts, and Music.

Idk if there ever were any traditional art or "real art" here, but you rarely find any of those on design forums. If there is, then it's mostly anime fan art.

I had a guest, probably in his 20's, at the Dali come up to me and ask for a teacher's discount on his entry into the museum, but he didn't have proof of it. I asked what he taught. His answer? Photography. He shoots on film. Black and white, and color FILM. I told him he scored major points for that and we talked about how pictures on film have a warmth and heart that digital pictures just don't have. So it still exists...there is hope for its survival! That makes me very happy. It is one of the fine arts, so it will probably never die. Needless to say, I gave him the teacher's discount.

Ah yes film One of my favorites, that I am sadden I no longer have as much access to as far as developing my own. The smell of D76 and the weird aromas that admit from a darkroom make photography what it is. You have no grasp for pure raw artesry if you only do digital work.
Not ... Not that it does not take some talent, but it is no where near the same rush of excitement nor feeling for me if i was to shoot - load and print. ____________________________
The pioneers of photography are some of the greatest artists to impact art as a whole. it makes me sad when people try to say taking a picture isn't art : (
