I recently changed my Forum name, as well as its look. It is now pretty dark. I'd post the link so you could look at it, but if I remember right, we can't post links here.
But that's okay.
I personally don't care whether a Forum skin is dark or not, but it is less "depressing" for me if the skin is bright, like the one on here.

It really depends on the skin and the exact colors. But generally, if I see deep black and bright red, I keep away.

I love dark skins. I don't find them depressing at all. Most people are totally inept at creating appealing light-coloured skins, and I've yet to see a mid-range skin that looked even half decent, but it's hard to mess up a dark skin unless you're blind.

depthCore has a dark site and forum, and yet lots of people go on it everyday, so i have to say " I like any skin, just so it is done well"

i like dark skins. but it doesn't matter to me, as long as it's nicely done.

I don't have a problem with dark skins, as people have said, if it is nicely done then I'll like it. But sometimes I think the colours chosen need to reflect the topic area of the forum. If your forum is for those dealing with cancer, I don't think the dark colours would be all that supporting.

Some dark skins are nice, but the concept and color scheme should be good. (the community as well)

Just wondering, do bright blue and black not go together at all? Because I might re-skin my Forum, and there is this really cool blue sun picture that is bright blue. But the Forum name is Eternal Eclipse, so I would probably need black.
Maybe this isn't the place for this, though...

Okay, thanks. We are having a banner contest on my Forum, and the leading entry is almost all blue, though. So it might be more blue than black, but I'll determine that when I actually make the new skin, and see how it turns out.

It wouldn't make me depressed, but I'd definitely have negative connotations.

I've always liked a skin that is well made. I usually join a forum if the content is good and if the admin put effort into the appearance of their forum. Historically though, I've never made a light skin for my own forum.

It depends entirely on what colours and how they are used.

I personally have a thing against dark skins no its doesnt make me depressed and it doesnt mean i dont like them it just means i prefer light, light skins are harder to make but if pulled off the theyre awesome.

It depends for me. If the colours are used well and dont have eye blinding contrasts (Black and bright red, Black and Neon Green) then Ill like it.
