You MUST read these rules BEFORE posting.
In the Battle Board you may challenge any person in the forum to a duel. This duel is to be done through digital images made with programs like Photoshop or PaintShop Pro, but certainly not limited to those. Traditional Art battles are also welcome.
We have two sub-boards in use:
The Point System (This Week's Points)
The point system is merely a fun way to set up a standings here in the boards. Every week I send in the points to a Global Moderator and they update the table.
The Points are handed out as such:
*An automatic 5 points to each person who completes at least one entry for the season.
Sig: 10 points per win
Large Image (Larger than 300x300): 20 points per win
Tournament: Stated in rules of tournament
Tennis Match: Depends on amount of rounds
*New rule: Any entrant who completes at least one piece for a battle that is seen through to the end, win or lose, receives an automatic five points for the season. Not five points for each entry, but a one time five point award for the three month season.
After 3 months, the winner will be awarded a custom title by the moderators. The results of the seasons can be seen here.
Start a Battle- This is where you call out your opponent and challenge them to the battle. Rules are set here and entries submitted.
You may start a battle in one of two ways. You can either ask for an opponent, or you can call someone out.
To start a battle, create a new thread. For the subject, make it descriptive. Use something like "Battle Me Luke" or "Vector Sig Battle". Please avoid from using "Battle" as the subject.
Now that you've set up the thread, all you need to do is set the rules. For better results, use the following template:
Battle Rules:
Theme-
Style-
Size-
Programs-
Brushes-
Stock Photos-
Renders-
Due Date-
Votes-
The ones that are required are in Italics.
Standard Battle- Basically you and one or more people follow a set of guidelines on the piece you'll be creating. You each display your finished piece and have it voted on by the other members.
A tennis match usually is between two people or a team of two people on each side. The way it works is a member submits his piece as the first round, the challenger then turns works off of his predecessor's piece having to leave one feature of the original piece intact. The battle consists of this style for a set number of rounds. We recommend 5 - 10 rounds
The final thing you need to do is have your battle moved to the Voting board. To do this, you need to do two things:
A Cleanout will occur every month or two. All battles older than 3 weeks will be deleted. If your thread is older than 3 weeks old, feel free to bump it, though a mod will choose whether the thread is dead or not.
Simply PM Luke if your thread needs bumped.
There is no Voting while the thread is still in Start a Duel. Please wait until it is moved to Voting.
You are only allowed to use the same image in one battle
You cannot battle another member more than twice every week.
Voting- This is the area in which your duel is sent after all entries have been submitted. The entries are then voted on by any member of the forum wishing to do so. The winner is then awarded points.
Your thread is now in Voting. All you need to do now is wait and let people vote. All we ask from you now is a tally of the votes after each vote is cast. A simple "3-1 Me" tally.
For Voters, there is a small list of things to consider before voting:
Once one of the participants has reached the set number of votes, voting is closed by a mod by putting [F] before the title and [User Wins] after the title. We then award the points. We ask that no one edit the title before a mod does. This will cause confusion between the mods and could keep you from getting your points.
If you have any questions about the rules, please ask either Josh or Myself. These Rules are to be followed by everyone active in the Battle Boards. We appreciate your cooperation.

Tournaments |
- A tournament will have varying point totals. In general, the winner of the tournament will get 15-25 points, depending on how many images they had to make to win. The runner-up will be awarded 5 less points than the winner. All other participants will be awarded 0 points. If there are more than 2 participants in the final battle, all runner-ups will be awarded the same amount of points.
- For a tennis match (for set up, see below), the winner will be awarded 15 points. If the match is longer than 8 images per person, point totals will be decided upon completion of the battle.
After 3 months, the winner will be awarded a custom title by the moderators. The results of the seasons can be seen here.

- Move all entries to the first post of the thread. This will make it easier and more userfriendly for the voters

- Please make it clear who you are voting for. Bolding your choice is an easy solution.
- Do not bash other members for their artwork. Keep the comments kind and inviting, but be constructive.
- All votes must be accompanied by at least one reason/comment. This reason must be based on the makeup of the images, having nothing to do with preferences of musical tastes or other situations dealing with the real world.
Once one of the participants has reached the set number of votes, voting is closed by a mod by putting [F] before the title and [User Wins] after the title. We then award the points.
