"A chat with Lucifer." by Ryan
Ryan: Lets start by you giving me a short background on yourself, interests, and the like.
Lucifer: Well, I enjoy playing my guitar. I'm a big metal head. If it has a guitar, a double bass, and screaming vocals, I'll probably like it. If there is one thing that I like more than anything, it's Asian history. China and Japan are my forte, but I also wish to research some of the Mongols, Korea, India, and other south-Asian countries. Basically, music and history defines me.
Ryan: What got you interested in the Asian culture?
Lucifer: Well, it's sort of a long story. A friend of mine bought this cool game called Dynasty Warriors 3. I immediately fell in love with the fast paced game play and action, so I eventually bought it's sequels (up through 5). This game was based on an era in Chinese history and I figured that since I was such a fan of the series, I would learn about the history behind it. Well, I found a book called Romance of the Three Kingdoms which, after reading twice, I have regarded as a Bible practically.
Before that, I was always fascinated with Samurai so Japan was sort of natural, but China is what I study most.
Ryan: Do you see yourself doing anything related to the Asian culture as your profession?
Lucifer: Actually, yes. I can't wait for highschool to end so I can head off to college. I hope to Major in Asian history so I can become a historian. I thought about archeology since I could travel more, but I figured I enjoyed reading more than digging, so I'd stick to history. I also want to Minor in Theology which is the study of religion.
Ryan: Seems like you have everything planned out pretty well. Why did you first come to SSD?
Lucifer: Oh jeez...now that you asked me that, I'll also have to explain my username since it ties in with that whole bit. I made a general chat forum a while back. Discussion for anime, games, roleplay, etc. Well, one roleplay I made was about the war between Heaven and Hell and I played Lucifer. So naturally, when I signed up for SSD (and ZD, for that matter), I used the name Lucifer. I signed up for the reason every n00b signs up at SSD: codes. It wasn't until after about a year that I started being active at SSD, though.
Ryan: If there anything you take particular interest in at SSD?
Lucifer: Nowadays, it's basically the community. With people like Criminal Mastermind, The Baron, Quacker, and Mastermind running around, how can you not like it? Plus, I have a lot of respect for the staff, especially Oliver and James.
Ryan: I see. Did you ever get involved with either graphics or coding?
Lucifer: No, not really. I've been learning a bit of coding recently so in the future, I may become more active in that area in SSD, but who knows? I also dabble in pixel art, but I never could relate to the graphics community at SSD. Nothing against them, but most people do vectors, abstract, or other styles of sigs that I can't do. So I usually just sort of practice my art on my own.
Ryan: How about the literature areas, did you ever take any interest there?
Lucifer: Nope. I've always been a rather skilled writer if I do say so myself. I mean, in school I could type up A papers in a half hour or less. But my interest is more in things like fan fictions and short stories, so things like anecdotes and poems don't really appeal to me.
Ryan: Well at SSD there is a wide range of literature. Pop quiz, what year was the great wall of china finished?
Lucifer: No idea. 1800's I believe. But I research more ancient history, not things that are that recent. I do, however, know that the idea and foundations for it were started in the Qin dynasty by Qin Shi Huangdi who I regard as one of China's greatest emperors, despite some of the atrocities he committed.
Ryan: I think you are right there, I read something about the 17th century. Tell me some ancient history.
Lucifer: Ancient history? Um...well, as I mentioned before, my most major focus is the Three Kingdoms which revolves around Liu Bei who swore an oath of brotherhood with two men named Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. They eventually found the Shu-Han kingdom in China and fight to preserve the Han Dynasty which reigned for 400 years until it's usurpation by Cao Pi of Wei in 220 AD.
Ryan: Interesting. 0_o. Since you are a Asian history buff, I would presume you would pick Ninjas over Pirates, correct?
Lucifer: Actually, no, I don't. I'm a dirty, gritty pirate all the way. I've always liked how they were rebels, plundering booty and "booty" wherever they went. Ninjas are definitely cool, but ninjas are nameless and only a few have ever been recorded in history since the rest have always remained secretive. It's also debated that a certain ninja, Hattori Hanzo, was in fact a samurai and not a ninja at all. He is the only ninja, if my memory serves correctly, to have a recorded death date.
Ryan: You do know a lot of history. If you could be any person, who would you pick?
Lucifer: That's a tough one, really. I'd probably be myself. I like who I am and I want to stay who I am. You could argue that if I became somebody else, I'd like everything about them, but from my point of view, I think I'm my ideal person. But Eddie Van Halen is a guitar god, so I s'pose he'd be my pick if I had to choose.
Ryan: Good answer. Do you think Artos is a god?
Lucifer: Not a full fledged god, but perhaps a demigod.
Ryan: But CM is defiantly Mary. Don't you agree?
Lucifer: I would call CM a god, actually. "God of Drink and Merry-making".
Ryan: He is Mary dammit. Naturally James is Jesus.
Lucifer: No, James is God. Artos is more of a Jesus. And then you have The Baron, Crestfallen, and Mastermind. They're like the Three Wise Men if you ask me.
Ryan: Alright good enough I suppose. Anything else you would like me to ask you?
Lucifer: Hmm, I can't exactly think of anything myself. I s'pose if you could think of something, I'd be more than willing to answer, but otherwise I've got nothin'.
Ryan: Alright I guess I'll end this. Anything you want to tell the kids out there?
Lucifer: Don't do drugs...
...unless I'm invited.
