"Say hello to... Buttercup." by Ryan
Ryan: So, "Buttercup" what originally brought you to SSD?
Buttercup: Well, I originally came to Proboards creating a forum for my school, specifically my class. It was a pretty horrible design, mainly with ripped google images. So, I had nothing better to do one day, as I went over to the main Proboards website, and so the featured sites. That's where I saw SSD. I decided to stop by. I got baffled when I saw it. Mainly the small details, like the width being smaller, images there , and also the large number of people. I first just browsed around, and the coding boards was where I really spent my time in. I was quite intrigued from the works of Crazy_J, Peter, Ross, Etc. I was clueless how to use them, but soon figured it out. I spent quite a while just ghosting around, until I finally decided to sign up. Not many people know this, but I at first signed up as "reverendium." However, due to my constant disregard of the rules, and mindless noobity I was degraded through society. So, I took up a new leaf as "Virtuoso" the designer. And my life in SSD Went from there.
Ryan: So, you are a designer. Did SSD spark your interest in that area?
Buttercup: SSD Sparked my interest in both designing, and coding areas. In coding, Crazy_J was the person who really got me into it. He was my idol. Even though I only started really coding two months ago, he was a huge part of my mentality at the time. SSD Had a large part of my designing interest as well. Though it was the forum Visual Conceptions that originally got me into designing, it was SSD That helped me refine my skills from a low sig designer up to a large piece/wall paper artist. I got tons of inspiration from the art group members. After a while, my art ability improved massively, once I got into contact with Assassinator. Now, I am one of his best friends(or at least, I think so) and he is perhaps my greatest artistic idol.
Ryan: Interesting, nice to see people learning off of more experienced members at SSD. What do you o with your spare time, besides design, code, and post at SSD?
Buttercup: Post at other forums? Well, I play a lot of basketball, go bike riding, and play hockey. Aside from that, even though it's summer, I do work. Yes, usually it's Mathematics at the university level, and other small little things. Aside from that, my entire day is spent on the computer, usually designing/coding/posting, and sometimes just daydreaming while listening to some music.
Ryan: Ahh. What other forums do you enjoy posting at?
Buttercup: Well, I'm fairly active at Zeno Designs. Other then that, I scarcely post at Studio Zero, DX5 Skins, and more recently G101 Designs. SSD IS, However, my main forum.
Ryan: It is ehome to a lot of people. How long do you usually spend on a certain piece when you design?
Buttercup: It really depends. If I am doing a sig(which is a very rare occasion) it usually takes between 15 minutes to half an hour. When I'm doing a large piece, my minimum length is 2 hours. Even if I finish far early, I stretch my time by adding little details here and there. Usually the time gets extended just from the loading times, so I don't get much finishing touches time.
Ryan: What would you say is your favorite piece you have made?
Buttercup: My newest piece E n d u l g e would be my arguably best piece. Though some of my photomanips may also be up there, people like Oliver say this is my best, and I will side with them.
Ryan: I took a quick look, and it is very nice. Though, I haven't seen much of your other work, so I wouldn't know if it is your best. You said before you code, what sort of things do you find yourself coding?
Buttercup: Nowadays I code a lot of C++, MySql, and the scarce JS Code. I've pretty much ceased my PB Coding. I don't find it very interesting, as it is the same repetition. Nowadays, I just code games/simulations, and am in the process of coding(with a huge team) something BIG which will hit the entire world in two years.
Ryan: Wow. Can you let us in on any insider secrets?
Buttercup: Nothing yet. All I can really say is, Halo will have to work much harder.
Ryan: I hope to see some of that in the future. How do you feel about the members at SSD? How about the staff?
Buttercup: The staff are something else, truly. Just about each and every one of them works amazingly hard every day just to keep this forum going, and the conclusion of all of their hard work really shows in the forum. I respect every one of them for a specific reason. They all want SSD To be the best forum that it can possibly be, an d they work so very hard at it, you can't help but admire that.
The members are also very.. intriguing, to say the least. There are many humorous members who really lighten up my day, if I'm stressed. There are lots of amazing designers that I look up to, and a lot of coders who I like. There are others who really helped me out in my designing/coding development, and I really appreciate that from them.
Ryan: You have mentioned a lot about designing, and coding. But how do you feel about writing?
Buttercup: Literature is very recently a large part of me. My vocabulary is very far extended, and at school, I am known to be a far intelligent literate then most of the teachers that inhabit the place, in a sense. Though, I do not have the patience of a raccoon, I still do enjoy writing on my free time. Though I do prefer Notepad, my pen and sheet of paper are always by my side. Any time I feel alone and am in need to letting myself go, I express myself with pen and paper, and let my imagination let me go free... Aside from that, I usually write when I see something awkward, like a dead rat, or two squirrels impaling each others fur, and meat. That is usually my prime source of inspiration.
Ryan: Ha ha. I know how you feel, I love writing too. Mainly it is just because I like to let some feelings out. You have told us what inspires you to write though when you design, where do you find your inspiration?
Buttercup: When I design, it comes from the most awkward places. Why, when I was creating my piece "endulge" my main source of inspiration was when I sunk a spider down my sink. One of it's legs ripped off, and somehow, that gave me my inspiration to create the entire piece. Other things that give me inspiration, and just resources. Like, when I do Web Designing, or when I do Photo manipulation, the stocks give me inspiration. When I do 3 dimensional art, the render gives me inspiration. And other artists, like Matt/Assassinator, Nexxia, Brandon, etc. All give me inspiration, and allow me to keep on going. And of course, some music and a sandwich never hurts either.
Ryan: How do you feel about the movie "Snakes on a plane?"
Buttercup: Serpents amuse me. It's a shame there are no anaconda's to grow 3 times their size and digest Samuel Jackson as he screams "Oh for the love of god almighty, and red cheese!" If they had an anaconda, then I may find it intriguing. Or at least someones head getting chopped of, and vibrating while on the floor. Coma impersonations turn me on.
Ryan: ...Alright. Many people at SSD know I fear Kay. Do you fear anyone at SSD in particular?
Buttercup: Hm... It's a hard decision. I'm scared of nrich. When I think of him, I think of flowers, and pink daisies. THAT Makes me shiver in my boots.
Ryan: So you fear nrich. Seems like a nice enough guy to me, but, to each their own. Do you have any unexplainable desire for anyone at SSD?
Buttercup: Yes. When I see Oliver, My pants bloat up. That's how I show love. I show hate my giving someone flowers. But, my hear twill be taken by someone else if they are able to successfully impale the eyes of 22 dwarfs while playing the piano with your right feet with their toenail standing at 2 inches long.
Ryan: I have a love for James that can not be expressed with words.
Buttercup: So I hear. Does he own any pitchforks?
Ryan: I don't think so. Anyway, Kay doesn't seem too happy about my love for James. I wonder why?
Buttercup: Because she doesn't like Pitchforks? :S Either that, or you turn her on.
Ryan: I bet I do. I have that effect on women. What would you rather have, a pound of gold, or a pound of feathers?
Buttercup: A Pound of feathers. I could use the tip of the features to dig them into the eye of every single shrimpy gold miner in the planet, and have over 200 pounds of gold then. I could buy more pitchforks.
Ryan: What is your obsession with pitchforks? Some kind of diabolical scheme I presume?
Buttercup: Yes, very much so. I shall take over the world, then bulge pitchforks into everyone. Artos will approve, I'm sure.
Ryan: Hah. Speaking of Artos, we have a cult centered around him at SSD. He is God, Criminal Mastermind is Mary, and James is Jesus. Oh, and I am Moses's sister's brother's cousin's father-in-law. Who would you like to be?
Buttercup: The Devil, Cause I get a pitchfork.
Ryan: Of course. Though, you have to look after all the baddies. Not a pleasant job. Plus, when Bush dies, you will have to put up with him for all eternity. Wouldn't you rather be the saint Frances? We would give you a pitchfork.
Buttercup: If It involves A pitchfork, I would slaughter a multicolored Chicken!
Ryan: That was quite random.
Buttercup: =]
Ryan: I think I will be ending this now. Any last words for our viewers?
Buttercup: Yes. If you see a pitchfork. Call me. If you see two squirrels impaling the red 5 inch guts out of them selves.... YOU BETTER CALL ME. Aside from that, pancakes go well with flammable pitchFORKS.
Ryan: Ok. -Shoots in leg- -Runs-
Buttercup: *runs after you drooling with a flaming pitchfork and two squirrels attached to my head*
