Heya, Artos. ^__________^ How are you?
Doing well, thank you. I haven't eaten in a bit, but, other than that, I'm good.
Care to tell us the basics?
(optional) Name: I'd rather not state my real name.
Age: I'm 17
Sex: I'm male, obviously.
Birthday: 18 on 08.14.05
Occupation: I'm a student.
Your Website (if any):
serenityffxi.proboards18.com
I'd make my own skin, but I'm too lazy.
It's just a simple forum for my FFXI clan, Serenity.
What you enjoy doing for fun:
I enjoy music. It speaks to the soul. I also do enjoy playing Final Fantasy XI.
Also, I set aside thirty minutes of my day to catch the anime Vandread.
Your favorite website to visit (you don't have to own it):
Solidsnake Designs brought me into the Internet scene, so I must give it my thanks.
Guilty Pleasures:
Singing along to my favorite music is one, I think...
I can't think of much more than that.
If I don't want to do it, I won't.
Any juicy details of your life that we can taunt you for?
Okay. In all the time that you've known me (debatable), do you honestly think I'd give you leverage to use on me?
...Well, 'twas worth a shot.
So, Artos? How long have you been a member here at SSD? And how'd you come across SSD in the first place?
Oh, I think I joined in...early 2004?
I joined because I was trying to help my friend with his Proboard.
Well, one thing led to another....
I was drawn into SSD thanks in part to the Chillout board.
Posters like Mr. Stabby kept everything fresh and fun.
I then started branching out, but I realized my home was in Chillout.
What's it like to be apart of the Herald Staff? Is there anything in particular you like/dislike about it?
It's...odd.
We have our work, and we do it.
There's nothing to dislike about it; the editors give us quite a bit of freedom.
And SSD in general - what's your most favorite thing about it, other than the Chillout?
I'm still saddened at the loss of the Graphics Request board- it was really what gave SSD its certain "thing."
As for now, though, I really like the Code boards- what those guys do is incredible.
Who're your most favorite SSD members?
Oh, there's a lot.
UC, Ollie, LPF, Joe, Forsaken, Jello, Stabby, Peter, Ash, Shadow, Jack....
Too many to name.
When did you start writing lyrics, and where do you normally draw your inspiration from?
For a long while, I was lost in the world of music. I listened to whatever was trendy, even though I didn't like it.
I remember that I have always hated country and rap music. It all just seems so jaded- even on itself.
I drifted towards Rock, where I began to listen to Linkin Park. They were excellent (were, as they've taken a more hip-hop route), and I remember loving the synth.
With that in mind, I began to listen to other bands with heavy electronic sounds. I began to listen to Tool, Pink Floyd, and Nine Inch Nails. They were great, but it still didn't feel right.
When I went to Denver with my Thespian Troupe (State Conference), I went to the Hot Topic at the 16th Street Mall. I saw a sampler disc, titled "Metropolis 2003." I picked it up.
The music was incredible. There were such artists as Covenant, Front 242, Assemblage 23, KMFDM, and Haujobb. I had found my genre.
I then dropped $200 on the Assemblage 23 and Covenant CDs.
I am drawn to electronica because of its irony. The most mechanical of music is the most human.
I then branched off into other forms of EBM- hard, goth, and rock. I found more artists to idolize, such as Icon of Coil and Funker Vogt.
With this style in mind, I then turned my focus to creating my own music.
The soul of EBM lies in its chorus and its synth. I took notice of this early on, and I have come to work a song around a particular set of words. This form of syntax is easy to get into and work with.
I also have toyed with various music programs, such as Acid and Ejay.
I remixed some of my favorite songs (with varied results) in Acid and tried to create my own in Ejay.
Sad to say, I just can't get the music I have in my head down on a computer or another machine.
It's in my mind, but I just can't transfer it.
For the knowledge of others - Where can we find your lyrics at so we may read them?
I've put them on Scribbles n Such, but I might take them off soon. I have this paranoia that a drifter might use them for his own purpose.
Out of all of your written pieces, what would you say you are most proud of, and why?
Hmm. I love them all, you know? They explain how I feel.
If there was one that I can say totally encompasses my life, I'd have to say that it is Ode to the Lost.
But...the one I feel the most attached to is Castles of Sand.
...Do you like to be hugged?
No. I hate close contact. I only tolerate it, and on few occasions. My personal bubble extends into the Internet.
If you had to live one day in time, what would it be?
I would love to relive the day that man landed on the moon. It was such a monumentous occasion, and it was a time of human pride.
Do you have any future goals for yourself?
I need to find a job.
Why do you like Code Red?
Don't know. I just like the extra-tart flavor.
Can I hug you?
Don't push your luck.
Pleeeeeeeeease?
Noooooooooooooo?
What are you thinking right now?
"Damn, this pizza is good."
Sum of thoughts? Any last words to the people of SSD?
Hmm. Defy all expectations. Do what you want, and let no one stop you.
*grins* THANKS FOR LETTING ME INTERVIEW YOU. (insert smooching-smiley here) *runs away*
