Mmkay. My first interview. Chose to keep this one laid back. That and I was rather hyper. And, anyway, if the questions are lame, so sue me.
Kari, Kari, Kari. How does it feel to be my first victim?
It’s not necessarily a new feeling to me – I’m used to the days when you used to bug me for updates and such, grown used to it now. Hey, someone’s gotta be game; it’s just me this time around. Sadly.
And, as for the second... inevitable question: How are you this fine night/day?
Mighty cold. I had school this morning and I biked to school in 0 degrees. For those of you Fahrenheit users- that’s 32 degrees. I think it’s safe to say I nearly said goodbye to my fingers and biking in a kilt is really quite dangerous. They get caught up in the bike brakes and so on... hello ground. I think I’ve kissed the pavement a fair few times in my biking-to-school career. Lotsa fun.
...And then the third inevitable...things: Real name? Age? Sex? (but I'm sure it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out ):
Real name – Emma. Age – 16, over halfway to 17 thank god (5 months to go!), and obviously, I’m female.
(You're getting so old. )
Alright, Kari dear -- in your most honest opinion, what do you think of Solid Snake Designs? Or, when you first joined, back when was when, what was your first thoughts of it?
Back when was when was last year or the year before sometime. I wasn’t much of a poster though – you’d be scarce lucky in catch me in Chillout. I think I posted a total of 74 times in a year and a half before I finally became active. My first thoughts of SSD were “ooh man, big place”. SSD was busy and bustling- something I wasn’t quite used to having migrated over from Scribbles n Such back in the day.
I was scared of SSD to be honest. I didn’t really know many of the people too well- save for UC- so I didn’t stick around. Peter scared me. Alan scared me. Yes, even Oliver scared me for a time. That didn’t stay long once I started talking more on MSN though. Safe to say- I’m not scared of you guys now.
My opinion now of SSD is that it’s such a nicer place from back in the days of the graphics request board. There were so many rude and ungrateful people back then that contributed nothing to making a good atmosphere for the place. The members here look out for each other and it’s generally nice to go into a forum where there’s respect.
When you became moderator, what was the first thought that crossed your mind? If you can remember? Do you enjoy being moderator?
“Ooh man, what have I gotten myself into?” were my first thoughts. And yes, I do. I’m a cleaning freak- everything has to be neat and tidy and organised for me- so sue me. We have a wonderful community here at SSD- I need never tell anyone off.
What's the worse part about being a moderator?
I haven’t come across any bad parts yet. I guess it’s just being sometimes being branded a stereotype.
What's your favorite board in SSD?
What a silly question.
Photography by a long shot. It’s a great outlet for ideas and thoughts and photography can be done by any person, anywhere, any time. Anyone’s able to be a photographer in their own right. If you have an eye for detail, composition and lighting, and a half-decent camera then you’re halfway there.
Chillout would be my second favourite board.
What made you join SSD, anyway?
Hmm, I don’t know. I guess I just joined because I joined?
Who, or whom, are your favorite members of SSD? (Can include the staff, too)
I have too many to count. Everyone I’ve met here is so welcoming and friendly- a few of my favourites are probably Del (some of his posts crack me up), Alan, Shadow and Artos. Everyone else, you know who you are.
Random question.... what's your favorite soda?
I have one thing to say...
Fanta is way better than Mountain Dew.
What are you thinking right this minute?
I wish I had my hot-water bottle. And my feet are numb. I think sitting on the chair cross-legged is probably a bad idea.
We all know you like Photography. What are your favorite genres to photograph? Is there anything out of your range of picture-taking that you would like to take pictures of?
I’d like to be able to get some photos of architecture and historic buildings. Maybe when I venture over to Germany this year I’ll be able to. Here’s hoping. My favourite genre is easily nature. I'm lucky to live in such a beautiful country.
Any tips to those n00b-photographers?
Whatever happens, just keep your eyes open. You never know when a gorgeous shot will line itself up for you. Photography is sometimes all about capturing the moment at the right place at the right time.
What are your three most prized posessions, that, if ever in case of a fire, these would be the things that you'd save?
My photos of places that I’ve lived previously would be among those possessions as well as the bell that my grandparents gave me when I was younger. Mainly I keep possessions for the memories- though material things don’t last forever. Anything else, I'm not sure of.
Are you getting tired of the questions yet?
Not yet. Maybe a little further.
Can you take anymore?
When you’ve got energy drinks and/or an insomniac tendency, you can take anything.
Did you enjoy being interviewed by me?
Sure.
Sum of thoughts?
The interviewer is a dork.
And SSD is a wonderful group of people and I love being here - keep set for things to come in the future.
Especially in the Photography board.
Which reminds me... COMMUNITY PORTRAIT. All you photographers feel free to head on over, I’ve recently put a new one up.
Thanks, Kari, for letting me interview you.
You're very welcome, Tanja. It was my pleasure.
