Very simple. Choose a font and type whatever you want in black. You can use any color, really, you'll change it later. Then make the background a color like red or blue, then make the letters white, then the background black. Zoom to large size and outline the letters in basic light gray. At every corner, put dark gray. Zoom out to normal size. Look at the word 'The' and the 'H' in Halfpipe:
