Simple Header Image Tutorial (Adobe Photoshop 5.0)
In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a simple, but nice header image for your Proboards message board. This tutorial may not work on other versions of Adobe Photoshop or other graphic programs. I will try to keep it as simple as I can.
For this tutorial I will be using the header image from, Grey-Blue Tech, a template I made a little while back.
1) Go to File>New. (Image Below has size needed.)

2) Set the foreground color to a light blue, then set the background color to a light gray, or very close to white. Maybe this image below will help.

After doing that go to Filter>Render>Clouds.

You will see something like this
After doing Filter>Render>Clouds, go to Filter>Render> Difference Clouds and do that two times. The image will have a nicer look to it.
3) Now we are going to make a new layer, go to Layer>New. Make sure that the layer is above the background.
Find the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M). Make a narrow rectangle from left to right. Fill the rectangle in with a light/dark gray color. Like in this example
4) Now we are going to se a border around the gray rectangle.
-First set your foreground color to a dark gray or black.
-Next you will need to go to Edit>Stoke.

-You should set everything to look like this

5) Now we are going to make some side looking rectangles. Select polygonal lasso tool from the tool bar.
Draw a shape like in this example. (sorry for it being so big. I didn’t notice I didn’t cut the box out first before.)
Before you fill in your selection go to Layer>New or Shift>Ctrl>N. Then use the same gray color as you did in the first rectangle. Once again make your foreground color a dark gray or black and stroke it using the same settings as before.
6) Ok, now you will need to duplicate layer 2.

Once you have done that go to Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal
shatteredcreation.250free.com/Images/Avatars/Tutorials/HeaderImage/EditTransform.jpg[/img]
Move the Layer 2 Copy about the same distance on the right that layer 2 is to the left. You will come out with something like this: example.
7) Here comes the fun part.
-First go to File>New and use these settings:
shatteredcreation.250free.com/Images/Avatars/Tutorials/HeaderImage/FileNew2.jpg [/img]
-Now magnify the new image as much as you can, by pressing: the space bar, ctrl, and then right click on your mouse. (Keep doing this until the image is as big as it can be.)
-Now select the pencil took from the tool bar, on your brushes section select the 1 pixel brush.

Place the dot in the middle of the image; make sure the color is black. It will not take up the whole image.
-Now get the rectangular tool out and select the whole image (not just the dot) and go to edit> define pattern. Example.
8)Now go back to the header image. Select Layer 2 Copy by going to the layer and pressing crtl>then right click on the layer you want to select. After you do that select the pain bucket tool from the tool bar, go to the options at the top and select pattern. Here is an example.
After you do that fill the layer that is still selected in with the paint bucket. It will fill it with the pattern. Do this to layer 2 copy, layer 2, and layer one. DO NOT DO IT TO THE BACKGROUND, unless you want to lol.
9) Ok now we are going to change the opacity of Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 2.

Layer 2 and Layer 2 Copy: shatteredcreation.250free.com/Images/Avatars/Tutorials/HeaderImage/Layer2andLayer2Copy.jpg [/img]
10) Now flatten the image. Set your foreground to black and select the image, now go to Edit>Stroke. And use the same settings as before.
11) Get the text you want and place it anywhere on your header image. Mine ended up like this:

I hope you had fun making your simple header image. Tell me what you think of my tutorial. I don't know if it was good or not. It was my first one.
Thanks,
