I have a problem in PSP 8 that I just haven't a clue how to fix. The problem is when I create an image with predominantly red or orange colors, then save it as .JPG, the red/orange color dithers, or bleeds. It doesn't do it for .GIF, .BMP, or .PSPIMAGE. However, there are times when I *need* to save as .JPG. I have a feeling that it might have something to do with the compression values, or something. However, I'm only a graphic wannabe amateur type person, and don't really know how to fix this problem, or if I even can. I did a really quick scribble with some brushes, just so I could show you the difference...I'll just post the links, because I'm not sure if you have a rules against posting images in posts or not. www.geocities.com/nightdazzler/Image2.gifwww.geocities.com/nightdazzler/Image2.jpgIf you look, you can see how, in the .JPG version, the color bleeds, or dithers. Can anyone help me? Pretty please? *g* Daz~

Hmmm, tough call. Can't tell. But first off, my advice to you is, that any graphic piece you might want to convert for uploading for the web, always take .PNG, but .gif only when it's transperent. Secondly, I think that the Compression Value might be a bit high, so change that to 1. That should maybe solve it.
Good luck.

I agree that you need to adjust your compression value. However, 1 may be too low depending on the file size. I usually use beween 5-7.
Another aspect to try is exporting the image to jpg and gif. Instead of using "save as". There is a difinite difference between these modes of output for image.
Does your original image in PSP look just like the gif image you posted?

ah ha!
it seems that Export works wonders. At first, when I tried it, it didn't - the compression was already set at 1, but the Chroma Subsampling was 2x2 1x1 1x1 (default). So, I tried each value, and it looks perfect, no dithering when I use 1x1 1x1 1x1 (none).
So, I hope that fixes the problem! Thanks so much! ;D
