Alright, I pretty much suck at making skins [ ritac.proboards98.com ] so I wanted to ask exactly how you get the background to be perfectly centered with your boards in between? As you can see, on my site, the lines are uneven. I'll be making a new skin because the one I have is really bad. I have photoshop 7.0, and I have already tried to figure out the number alignments when making a picture, but I don't understand how to make two lines the same length away from the edges of the image. Any help or tips on this or skin making would be very much appreciated! Thanks =D

From what I understand:
If your forum's width is 700, then you'd make a 710 or 720 wide background. Or bigger/smaller if needed.

But how do I know exactly where 720 is on the canvas? It's not the size of the canvas I need, it's the lines' distance that border around the boards. The ones that are vertical and a part of the background image. Sorry if that doesn't make any sense >>

or you could use the selection tool to make something 720 in width, fill that area and then ctrl+a to select the entire layer and use the move tool to center the area you've filled in (there are some icons in the tool bar for that tool that allow you to center the items on a layer by the selection). You can then use that as a guide for your lines.
That's how I do it anyway

1. Select All (CTRL+A) 2. Choose the Move tool (V) 3. Click the "align horizontal centers" button Voila

I never thought of that! Thanks!

Awesome! I'll try out both of these things and fool around with it a bit more. Thanks to all three of you =)

I basically gave you E's method but with a picture to show you which button to push.

What I normally do is fill in the entire area; subtract 720 (or whatever) from the total width, divide the result by two, then get the rectangle selection with that number as the fixed width and select both sides. Then I hit delete.
It's not as fancy as those people with skills, but it works.
