For some reason my current piece artwork merged with my workspace. I cannot close that piece of artwork for anything. Click

Up below the normal close button on your window is another close/maximize/minimize button. That's where those buttons go when you maximize an image.

That's a lot of layers.... Hardly. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) There are pieces with over 10,000 layers out there. Granted, though, its a good amount for a relatively simple signature.

It'd take them forever to work. 300 or so is my absolute upper limit - after that you start losing things, no matter how tidily you organise them.

FFS. I start loosing stuff at about 20 layers. Last time I did something for with twenty layers, it was the back ground for my myspace. Thats due to like seven photos in the top, several text layers, an abstract, various other things. At work, I do huge 30ft by 10ft banners for the front of the buildings. I never have more then ten layers open. I'll instead make it two documents and then copy and paste one in to the other.

yea...there are so many layers because of gradient maps and selective colors and things...Also there are all those displacement boxes and brushing. Some of those also may be when I added something and didnt like it so I just hide it ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

When i first started using photoshop (way back in the day, i think I had photoshop 4LE on mac), I used to do that all the time. Then again, back then the machines only had enough power to handle about 5 high res layers.
