But that's not true any more, maybe a few years ago yeah, but being known as a design forum isn't all that we are. We don't have requests any more, which was always what everyone wanted. So we need to advertise our other strengths, one's that aren't so well known.

I was reading the thread on PBS and some people seem to think that we have got over 15,000 members so we don't need to advertise. If people think this way wouldn't it be good a idea to delete some of the inactive members here to lower the overall member count?

If people think this way wouldn't it be good a idea to delete some of the inactive members here to lower the overall member count? Then it is more difficult to lure potential advertisers (if they are still offering space for advertisers on the main site)

I don't see why we should cater for those silly people. And how do we even judge inactive anyway? Even 0 posters still login to have a look around.

A new version would bring in members.
I know this will probably stir some controversy, but thats what I'm known for right? Back in the glory days of SSD, it was about having fun. From the random times I've stopped in since when I was active, SSD has slowly been on a downslope. Most of SSD's core members have grown older and grown out of the whole PB forums thing. You guys need a way to make SSD fun again. Contests and crap like that aren't exactly going to do it because not everyone is good at coding/graphics/poems or whatever else you make contests for.
If you notice, the most active forums are ones that are newly opened. I'm not sure, but my guess is because you can establish yourself as a known member at new forums and the rules aren't as strict. I don't really know what to suggest to help SSD grow, but I think that it's gotten a bit too serious for PB.
Of course this has been suggested before and I highly doubt it will happen, but SSD needs to move away from Proboards. PB is full of younger less mature forum members (for the most part) and from what I see, you are trying to be mature and serious. The addition of the art collection, herald, ect., isn't exactly what kids at PB are looking for on forums. I know you guys obviously still have active members and people who do enjoy those things, but for the most part those are members who have been here since the height of SSD.
Anyways, I'll end this with a "I have no idea what I'm trying to say."
Rawrcakes.

Aye, enough. What is wrong with some of you? Seriously must it be an argument or contest on who can fling the most insults in every goddamn thread? Mature a bit and cut the shit already. I can see now why Pandy's feeling like a babysitter.
Everyone has an opinion, they may speak it. But just because they speak it doesn't mean they're willing to do much about it, oh well, let them waste time by bitching and moaning. But there's no need to start with the insults, either of you.
Michael, I know you know how to be mature. Oddly enough, I've seen it once in a while. How about showing it now?

Well maybe on the post/page whatever you guys have for the advertisement in Proboards, show some examples of the infamous things people post here in the forums. Maybe a new selection of general topics are in order for people to talk about. The graphics type of exhibition board that you guys have is a great motivator for advertising. Maybe a few displays might be good. Maybe I'm not making any sense.....
But the truth exists that SSDesigns are still being viewed as the site that new site admins/owners can come in & get advice & help on to fulfill their site creations. Thats how I became a member, via word of mouth from a friend of mine whom advised me to seek help here.

Bit late of a reply. But it had to be said,
Quacker's right. SSD's goin' downhill, and people like Jon aren't making things any better.
Things are just way too strict nowadays.

Who are to judge, at least I'm trying. Think about what your saying before you go singling out people for SSD's problems.

It wasn't an appropriate reply, so it should have been left unsaid. I'm so tired of people pointing blame. And blame for what? SSD is allowed to have ups and downs just like any other forum. In my opinion, it is all the fingerpointing and fight instigating that is making this period of time a "down" time. Too strict?! We've been bending the ToS rules, some too far, to allow your freedoms of speech, but when it comes down to personally insulting fellow members, I have no more tolerance for it. At all. Jon has been a good help to higher staff and he didn't deserve that, Virt.

I've looked at the PBS thread and it hasn't been bumped since January 18th! We can't expect Eternity to keep bumping it so if anyone here has a PBS account (I don't have an account there yet) please bump the thread every now and then
