Does SSD have a Secret Santa every year? I do it on a few other forums and it's pretty fun... would be great to open the mail and see you got a present from a secret santa.

I object, and refuse to participate, unless it is referred to only as "Secret Big-Fat-Guy-In-A-Red-Suit-Who-Stalks-Little-Kids-And-Has- No-Religious-Affiliation".
Or as "Secret Michael Jackson".
*wink*
I like it.

XD Haha. Lol, Artemis. I shalt participate...if it even works out. XD
I would like that, actually. But, we should have an admin send the username of a person, and then you have to give that person Karma, make a siggie for them and give it to them at the end of the month, etc. Only in December, though.

Sounds like a nice idea actually. Although, the idea is that you don't know who you're giving the gift to. So you'd make something, submit it into me. Everyone who enters something would then get something back.

The way I've always seen it done is that the people that want to participate have their names drawn and you give a gift to whom ever's name you draw. The way we can get around the whole "Well, they'll know who's giving them the gift if you PM it to them or whatever" is by doing what Oliver said and have him PM all the gifts.
Everyone participating will HAVE to give a gift though, so if someone knows they won't be around on Christmas to give the gift, then they shouldn't participate.
It'd be good to have all the gifts delivered Christmas morning?
Only thing I can't think of is...what sort of gifts could we give?

Could probably be anything from a poem/song, to an online xmas card.

I'd participate if this is carried out.

Isn't the idea that they don't know who gave it to them? that's what he said " Although, the idea is that you don't know who you're giving the gift to." Kay, i saw the "is by doing what Oliver said" at the end and Oliver said that you wouldn't know who you gave it to, so i assumed.

So, get planning! We need a way to know who we will give gifts to, though...
I think Oliver should PM each PARTICIPATING indevidual another person who is participating, and then you can PM him back with a siggie or a poem or a Christmas card or something.
And yes, Santa Claus is religeous. He actually was a real man, Saint Nicholas, made into a fictional character. Saint Nick did actually have a sleigh and give toys and food and such to children and adults.

I wouldn't get one No need to say anything about yourself either, because you won't know who you're giving it to. Nearer the time, I'll post a sticky thread asking people to PM me with their gifts and I shall then distribute gifts back. So everybody who makes a gift, gets a gift.

...
Couldn't we just create a "Santa" account?
And when your gift is done, you PM it to your recipient as the "Santa" account?
There's anonymity down.
As for everyone giving and getting, two questions:
1. How do non-graphically-oriented people participate? 2. Couldn't everyone who was going to participate sign up in a thread, and then Oliver randomly PMs people who their recipient was?
Seems a lot easier, with a lot less work for Oliver.

Non image people could do a short poem or story maybe? I'd rather not have sign ups, because from experience a good chunk of people who "sign up" to do something usually forget or don't bother. But I like the Santa account idea
