I think you can already do the photography battle in the Arena. Or maybe you can't. If you can't then I would suggest to start it. Well, what I was thinking. Why not start a board for Coding Battles too? Since we have a lot of talented coders and I think this new board will inspire them. What do you think about it ? P.S. I dunno if it was already tried earlier or not

Photography battles take place in the photography board already. Coding is as Crazy_J says.

Yeah, the photography board already has battles. I think things would be easier that way and people would get confused where to do photography battles otherwsie (We had a 4 way battle a couple of months back with Me, Kari, Mitch and Alan...t'was fun).
Also if people vote in photography then I am assuming that they know at least a little about photography.
As C_J said, coders can do theirs in coders galore anyhoo. ;D

code battles can happen in coders galore. Yeah, but why not like the GFX Battle board ? Why not create a whole new board for it with ranking tables and stuff like the Arena ?

Because they don't happen often enough to do it. I go through coders galore every so often and see a battle here and there. Coding isn't like art. In art, there are a billion different ways to do something. In coding, there are a few. This makes those battles much harder to set up and do. Making it not worth a board.

First of all, don't say there are only a few ways to do something in coding, because there are infact millions, if not billions of ways to do something. It just annoys me when designers say this kinda thing..
This topic has come up before and Oliver said "I don't see anyone doing any battles in Coders Galore. Maybe when people start battling, there will be a board for it."

I think many people doesn't even know that you can battle in the Coder's Galore. I think that's the reason.

It really depends on what you do, if people were into developing more adventurous things which were non PB related it would be quite interesting. However, you need to look at the bigger picture. If coders wish to make a battle they can do so, but coding something is different from creating a piece of artwork, it's not that they're lazy or anything it's an entirely different process.

Calling coders lazy would be like me calling all graphic designers whiners. While 99% of them are, that extra 1% either isn't or it is but applies correctly. Programmers are supposed to be lazy; the best of us are. But, that's what makes the best programmers the "best". It's a whole different ball game when you're talking about coding. Not being lazy means you'll reinvent the wheel every time you program something. It also means you're likely to not make your code reusable. Both of those things mean you'll be spending more time doing something than you should. Time is money.

I would like to say, that was an awesome post. *would exalt if could* Also, I'm trying to come up with some activities for coders to do, and for the most part they should follow along with what Bobby has said.

You just said they aren't lazy...then go on to say that 99% are and the other 1% normally are but apply themselves well...intresting (not trying to pick a fight, just pointing out what I think you said )

he means that you're making a sweeping statement which while most of the time is correct, is offensive to those who don't fit the bill

That's what I am saying. I think that a battle board will inspire coders to battle. How would you know? If there aren't any battles going on now, there won't be any battles in the battle board. A new board would certainly not inspire me to battle I battle whenever I want to, whenever I feel like battling. Not because there's a board for it..
