Just got to say this game of musical chairs worked out amazingly well. Now instead of having Kay and a number of staff members SSD is left with two absentee administrators and two global moderators. I'd say it came out on top, eh?

Not to offend Oliver or Car... but honestly, it just goes to show I wasn't the reason SSD was dying. I was keeping it alive.

I at least made it abundantly clear in the beginning that I was only coming back to help out for a month, maybe two.
People should get off their high horses here; you don't have to have an administrator title to post on this place, and posting is its lifeblood.

People should get off their high horses here; you don't have to have an administrator title to post on this place, and posting is its lifeblood. If that's the case then SSD is currently in hypovolemic shock. And while it doesn't take an administrator title to post around here it does take said title to actually spark up the community. Especially when you consider how one can count SSD's staff on a single hand. And that occured because of the transition from Kay to the time-proven-combo Oliver/UC; even if the UC half of that was only for a month. Also its not your member base who posted about change and there being "huge steps for more activity." Huge steps that failed abysmally, mind you. If it is possible at all SSD's activity has only decreased since Kay left. So I'll repeat what I said before: This game of musical chairs worked out amazingly well. /sarcasm

Bobby, it does not take a goddamn colored name to make people want to talk. If you want to prove it, ask Oliver to paint your profile and we'll see how it goes. Our community stopped pulling in new members ages ago. Now, our entire community is based around the exact same people it has always been based around-- the good 'ole boys who have moved on and now have priorities that are higher than SSD. Those people, as wonderful as it is to say hi when they come around, can no longer sustain SSD. And without everyone bringing their friends here - without everyone making SSD a place that others want to be around - and without [/b]everyone[/b] getting over SSD's whole "too famous to advertise" attitude, no amount of administrators or staff can do a damn thing.
The staff can put up community practices, contests, sotw's... until they're blue in the face. We can post 10 Chillout threads a day and comment until our fingers are numb.
It will just continue to come out like it always did for Kay - and frankly, whether or not Kay was an admin, the reason she kept activity up as much as she did was really just being the activity. She could still do that as a member, if she wanted. You could do that as a member, if you wanted. Anyone could.
But really, the only people that give a damn about this place anymore are the ones who want to complain about it.
---
I apologize to anyone I let down by being an "absentee administrator." I could explain why I wasn't around, but no one really cares for excuses. If I let anyone down, I'm sorry. I came back to help Kay out and then got caught up believing I owed it to this community to keep SSD from just flat-out closing down.
I'm pretty sure now that I don't owe SSD anything.
