One thing that is a hot topic these days in this heavily digital world is intellectual property. What is yours and what isn't? Has anyone ever stolen your intellectual property from your website weather that be graphics, content, or something else? What did you do? A few years ago on a website that I ran for a Halo 2 group some other website not only stole the graphics we made for our news posts and forum boards, but they copied every gaming news story word for word. Once I contacted them they acted all tough like they weren't going to take it down until I had a lawyer friend draft up a letter. They had everything down within hours after that

Back when I ran a Big Brother fansite, another site frequently stole my articles. I couldn't get the owner's hosts to take action, but I did get his podcast pulled from iTunes a fair few times. And trolled his comments.

Never had anything stolen, but if I did I'd press charges if they didn't do anything. Copyright law states that the minute you create something, the copyright is yours whether you registered it or not. Registering it just makes it 100% prosecutable in a court of law and you get damages as well as all the other lovely payoffs.

Copied the whole skin of my forum actually. And they thought you wouldn't notice? Apparently so.
It was a dead forum with hardly any activity, so I didn't really bother with it.

But don't put yourself down, you have a lovely site that happens to be one of the lucky enough ones not to be stolen from. :3

If he doesn't I know where he lives. It'll be interesting for him to have a formal letter appear from me!

I used to do a fair bit of theme building for Drupal and often would find my themes up on Theme garden with all the files modified. Generally ripping all my credit out of them, and things of that matter.
Never pursued it. I should, but it's not worth it.

ahhh the glory of rippers... you can't beat them... well not legally anyway... down a back alley you may get away with it
i've had numerous amounts of sites try to rip my sites... also while i was working on another forum they constantly tried to rip the skin. Well we wasn't having it so myself and the head coder divised a plan we had encrypted javascript within the headers of the site that passed information onto a php script if the host wasn't the one of the forum... so someone ripped the code and bingo we had the url straight away to enable us to investigate... also it logged it on our side of things so we had evidence backing up our claims... loved every minute of watching those rippers squirm because they have nothing to say back to us ha ha >_> ... <_< ...

I actually was messing around and created a design forum that only had like 80 or 90 members and one of the global moderators copied everything my entire skin and put it on his forum which started to boom faster then mine I made him take it off and close the forum and just gave up on running my own
