Although you may be fine with your current organizational status, haven't you ever thought there was more? Doesn't it seem like there should be something easier and better out there than a traditional calendar? 83degrees thinks so. While 30boxes may still be in beta, it has been out for about a month now and many of the bugs have been ironed out.
Basically, 30boxes is Web 2.0 meets calendars. You can add events by easily pressing on the date of the event and typing in the name. Events can be further described after it is added, with the addition of tagging, description, and reminders. It can even send reminders to other people and invite them to adding the event. So, if you want to have a birthday party for someone, all you would have to do would be create an event, title it "ACoolie's birthday party," put the time it starts and ends, and the location in the description. Add the users you want to the list of invitees and 30boxes will do the rest, it's simple.
It would not be a true Web 2.0 calendar without a community aspect to it. Although you can change your settings to make your calendar private, you can add buddies and allow them to view all or parts of your calendar.
30boxes, with a clever name and a simple interface, is already becoming the next step in social networking and has successfully replaced my paper calendar. I am currently using it everywhere, even in school. I can plan my time I use for projects easier and my friends can see what projects I am doing so we can help each other out. My parents enjoy it to because it is much easier to use than the dreadful, half-baked idea Blackboard was. Anyways, when I first saw 30boxes, it seemed like another lame attempt for someone to take advantage of the Web 2.0 craze, but it is one of the greatest final products I have ever seen.
