Ok, short and simple. I think a good way for the newer members of SSD to connect with people here would be to know the history of SSD. There's... what? 5 years worth? So what I am suggesting is this: A Wiki or just a database of information written and put together by the veterans (E, Kay, James, Alan, Oliver, Car, myself, etc.) that goes through and tells people what went on before they came here. Covering things like clans (what gave me the idea from the v7 thread), themes, staff, FFM, etc. and just allowing members to connect more easily with the elder members of the forum here more easily.
Good idea?

Sounds good. How many of those frozen thingies are there?
(The site that takes you back to the previous skin I forget what it's called but it takes a snapshot of the forum on that moment in time and you can look at everything up until that moment, with all the images of that skin. I roamed around Severence once.)

I'm going back home this weekend so I will check the massive amounts of hard drives laying around for the screens. I think Alan has some and Oliver might too. Maybe Avtar as well. I think explaining some of the inside jokes might be the most integral part. Maybe even trying to get an extended list of staff members for when people talk about them you can just look up who they were and what they did. Is the SSD Yearbook still available? That would be a great resource for this if it were to be done.

I think that's a wonderful idea. I know at one point that Gray was working on an article about SSD's history. I don't think it was ever fully finished, though. However, about the yearbook. I don't believe it's still available on the website, but don't hold me to that. I don't recall exactly where it was located. There is still the sub-board where it was all compiled and discussed, it's one of the many archived boards.

I think a pedia would be good. We could all contribute our own personal experiences with this forums. I've been one of the main sources of problems in the last little while, so I know i've got tons to write about.

I have been working on a contest which will incorporate a lot of SSD's history. Include some of the events, staff changes, ect. All the answers will be able to be found in the forum. This works well so A) Newer members aren't at a disadvantage because all answers are in the forum B) Similar to what Josh proposed, it will give nubs an interactive way to explore this forums past.
The prize will be very uhhh rewarding.

You've only been here for two or so years...

Those boards don't have nearly the amount of history locked away in the heads of the people who've been here for four or five years. Snakepedia's sole purpose would be recording that history.
