I am supposed to be bringing my dog for a walk, but I will make a quick post.
It was challenging for me to learn what I know, and there are still many things I am having troubles learning. None the less, through time I did learn it. If you really want to learn it, then keep trying.

I felt the exact same way a few years back. HTML seemed impossible then. But I worked with it, and eventually realized just how simple it was. All I really had to do was grasp the basis of it...at that point I had something to build off of in my studies. Everything tied back into that basis.
I went through this process again with JavaScript. I quit for about 6 months before picking up on it again. It seemed impossible when I started, but it's a piece of cake now.
In my honest opinion, your worst enemy here is self-doubt. You're mind can't accomplish something if you tell it it can't. In my years of study (in many subjects), i've noticed an incredible difference in my success based on whether or not I was confident in myself. You'd be amazed.

No problem. I am not an amazing coder or anything, but I seem to be ahead of you in certain areas like the DOM. You should look into learning it. Right now I am trying to learn the more "correct" ways of coding. I understand how to do things, but I usually do it inefficiently. One of the things you did in your recent code submission was use parseInt without a radix. I usually do the same thing, but I am trying to stop. |

At first it seems completely overwhelming. Don't worry, we all feel that way. Once you get the basic hang of it and are able to make codes at a good pace, it'll come naturally to you. |

Don't try and code something that is way beyond your knowledge; I wouldn't go and code a huge member system in PHP, because I am still learning it. Though, I would add neat little features in CSS, because I do know how, and while I work at that, I will learn new things. If I started JavaScript again, I wouldn't jump right in and code something really advanced, I would prob code like, a menu or something. Now, if you know very little, or NONE of the HTML language, Javascript will be very difficult.

For me it was finding the time. Last year for my computing course in college, I created this little booking system, it was fairly basic and probably not fit for actual use. I would have liked to have carried on a bit more in PHP but I never got around to it.
I was constantly looking at the PHP manual and other such sites and I noted the sheer amount of technical language used which could be quite off putting. So I did give up, who knows, maybe I'll start doing things again.

I understand the basics really: arrays, functions, variables, databases, some regexp in PHP. You don't see me here much, because I don't code often enough . |

I've gave up on coding a lot of times, but after a day or so I usually try to see if I can complete what I was trying to do.
